"Reminder of hotel golden age, but a little dated"

Shangri-La Behai offers a reminder of big hotel golden days. There was live entertainment in the spacious lobby with views of the swimming pool. Room service also offered a convenient menu that was reasonably priced for this type of hotel. The gym and sauna were well-maintained and clean. Our room was comfortable and offered a fantastic view of the choppy Gulf of Tonkin. Breakfast was filling. There was plenty to eat including fresh fruit, noodles, pastries, and typical Chinese breakfast items. Some guests might be disappointed that Western options are scarce. Seating was also especially scarce during our time there. Other plusses include Shangri-La's location along the water. It is an easy walk to the old town port streets and the more modern beach areas.

The bathroom was dated. It is reminiscent of something that was fashionable in the late 1990s. This is a nice hotel but a renovation is overdue. The hotel is not very cosmopolitan. The area seems to have some ongoing economic struggles related to long-term covid restrictions. It is off the beaten path for international tourists. I saw only 3 other foreigners during my stay at this very busy hotel.

it was overall a pleasant stay at the hotel. Service is great. Not so impressed with the city though. I thought it was under developed. But i enjoyed the whole weekend at this amazing outdoor pool at hotel. And its right next the beach-ish side. So you can a walk after dinner in the evening.

The front desk staff was very helpful and professional. The outdoor swimming pool (clean and within nature) and the sauna was perfect to end the day for a relaxing sleep.

Very nice and happy experience but so quiet in lobby bar no entertainment at night no one play the piano and there is no senior management staff around the hotel
