The food was great , bar staff lovely

First room we were shown to was very basic, not what we expected as seen on photos. Pub was closed Monday and Tuesday so as we arrived on Tuesday ( after 4 hour trip in the snow) we could get nothing to eat or drink.. again not mentioned on booking. Member of staffs attitude quite rude when we complained about room. We were offered another room but it was a double bed.. which we decided to accept as we were there for the food , only gluten free and dairy free pub we have ever seen! However tv remote didn’t work. Shower rail was brown with rust and shower was just a trickle, WiFi code was stuck to a mirror and half of it was ripped off. Evening meal menu was not as advertised either, just basic menu no French cuisine offered as described. However the food we ordered was delicious.

The host ( Malcolm)who was very knowledgeable about Coeliac disease and very friendly. . As my wife is Coeliac , for her to be able to eat restaurant food without fear of cross contamination was an absolute pleasure. The food itself was excellent. Evening and breakfast. Malcolm went out of his way to ensure we had a cooked meal even though it is usually his night off.

Not being informed when booking about Monday night being closed in the restaurant. Fortunately Malcolm sorted this for us but it does need to be mentioned on the booking form.

We stayed in Knighton a few months ago at a different hotel, and after a couple of meals at the George and Dragon we decided that we would stay on our next visit (we visit for walking). We were greeted with a very friendly welcome on our arrival, and our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Both breakfast and the meals we ate in the bar/restaurant in the evenings were delicious: the only problem for us was that there was too much food - a rare problem these days! All the food is both gluten and dairy-free, but this did not compromise the taste or quality in any way. Malcolm is an excellent chef.

The only issue for me was parking. There is a very narrow space big enough for only two cars.

Attentive, friendly and passionate chef, staff and owners. Gorgeous quality allergen/dietary friendly food. (Gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian/pescatarian) Quiet, scenic and relaxing area. Beautifully kept and decorated historic building.

Justin, Malcolm & Mike were very readily very friendly and, as we were home hunting, really helpful with local information. The room was lovely, fresh & warm. Breakfast was delicious and the attention to a gluten & dairy free menu, very reassuring. Thank you!
