"Budget-friendly and well-located, just don't come expecting a bell or a whistle."

In a city where it’s nearly impossible to find a decent room at a reasonable price, this Motel 6 has always been one of my favorite budget getaways. Free parking and a location close enough to all the cool spots on the east side make it really convenient and appealing.

This Motel 6 was a decent place at one time, but it’s clear the current ownership has lost interest in maintaining it. The room felt worn and neglected, starting with pillows that were essentially loose sacks of cotton balls and a bed that felt like it hadn’t been updated since the 90s. The carpets were especially rough, stained throughout and dotted with what looked like old gum. Overall, it gave the impression of a property that hasn’t been cared for in quite some time. With some attention to cleanliness and basic comfort, it could be a very different experience, but in its current state, it falls short.

"Deposit scam"

They run a HUGE deposit racquet here. The owner has housekeeping inspect linen/towels BEFORE they are washed, take pictures, then charge you for “stains.” We got charged $46 dollars for makeup “stains” on two washcloths that probably cost $2 each. I asked to see the pictures because we actually take our own washcloths for makeup but ironically, they couldn’t send these pictures to us. And even when I wash our own makeup towels at home, the makeup washes right out. We travel a lot and have never had this happen before. The manager Ruth was extremely unhelpful and said we would have to email the owner himself to get our deposit back. Also want to point out that the other guests we were traveling with were all men, yet my daughter and I who shared a room were the only ones targeted with this. So women be careful using their towels/cloths for any of your needs because you will absolutely be unfairly targeted.
