Econo Lodge Jasper

I feel like this hotel needs an honest review because I foolishly made a reservation based on the few good reviews I read. I called the hotel and was given a price for a dog friendly room. I was told there would be a $25 dog fee. I made sure she knew I had two dogs. When we arrived, there was a very strong marijuana smell in the office. When he told me the price of the room , I hesitated and he said it was $50 for the dog fee. We were tired and weary and I agreed. When you travel with dogs, it's important that you have at least a little green space and this hotel has NONE. I had to climb a muddy steep hill and take my dogs to the green space at the hotel next door. The room itself was by far the dirtiest one I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in a few crappy dog friendly hotels. It was incredibly stinky because it had filthy carpet. If the owner is going to put carpet in his dog rooms, he needs to shampoo it regularly. Otherwise, he needs to install some laminate flooring like other hotels do. I couldn't even let my dogs sleep on this carpet. I put down a clean blanket for them. The sheets were thread bare and stained and the hand towel by the sink looked worse than my husband's 20 year old shop towels. We just set it aside and didn't touch it. There were stains and cigarette holes in the comforter cover, so I just took it completely off the bed. The blanket underneath was also stained with cigarette holes, but it did smell kinda clean. They did have coffee in the morning and there was a small selection of pre-packaged breakfast food (off brand honey buns, nutty bars, etc..). Just to top it off, when I looked over my bill on the way home, I was charged $55 for the dog fee. If you look at previous reviews on Trip Advisor and other review sites, you will see that the "owner"almost always makes a comment that he is surprised and sorry about this negative review and will bring it to the attention of the manager/staff, but obviously that isn't happening because guests have been complaining about the same issues for months. So instead making insincere comments, he needs to buy some fresh towels and linens and spend some time deep cleaning the rooms.

Bathroom was dirty.

Clean, comfortable and quiet. Variety of restaurants and shopping near by. Friendly staff.

Extremely nice front desk. Comfortable room and clean. Good Covid awareness and safety measures. Pet room was nice with no lingering pet odors. Would stay there again if in the area. Price was fair with pet fee.

Too noisy

Nasty and had bugs in bathroom

Checked into one room and it had bugs. Moved to another room and in the morning found a bug in the bed! There was long dark hairs in the bathtub and neither of us have dark hair or long! Corners of the floors were dirty and lots of dust on the mop boards. We tried to get our money back and go to another motel but they said being it was a 3rd party booking, they couldn't do it. Most likely will NEVER stay at an Econo Lodge again!

Thankfully, we only stayed one night. The facility is run down. Placed a $50 additional fee on our credit card and only gave $40 back. When I called to question, he told me the housekeeper said a washcloth was damaged; really? The linens are thread bare. We use facecloths so nothing gets on any cloths or towels. They have still not refunded the additional money. We will NEVER stay at an Econo Lodge again; even when traveling and only needing lodging for one night.

I pre-paid my one night stay. At check in my card was charged an extra $20 for "possible expenses" to be refunded at check out. I asked the refund at checkout, the answer was "it will be refunded" but I got no refund at all in my card. This is unacceptable.
