Aston Islander On The Beach

It was clean and quiet and with beautiful grounds. Ladies at the desk were very friendly and helpful.

Rooms were dated, cables cords everywhere and 2 fridges but one didn’t work that taking lot of space. The bar by the pool was a downer, Christmas time and no festive lights no atmosphere.

The pool was clean and very nice. The grounds were very well maintained and the plants were beautiful. The paths were clear.

We were welcomed without the promised lei and the person who checked us in was very rude. We communicated our needs multiple times in advance, (having booked 5 rooms and needing 2 beds in some of them) and had been told that this would be accommodated. But at check in the person told us that this was a request and only a request and not all requests could be met. Having the needed number of beds on our vacation is a requirement. Once a different person took over the check in process, all was well and we got what we needed, but it was a very unpleasant way to start our vacation. The rooms were very dated, inconsistent (some had blackout curtains when others did not, some had two fridges, the bathroom fans were very noisy and dirty) and could use a fresh coat of paint.

We needed a one night stay near the Pono Kai resort, and this hotel checked all the boxes. Clean room, comfortable bed, ability to be checked in after hours, very gracious staff, quiet location, and our driver found it easy to pick us up the following day. We would select this hotel again should we need a brief stay in the Kapaa area.

It is expensive but the price is typical for this area of the island so not really under the Aston’s control.

When we arrived, we were given the wrong room—there are three of us, but the room only had one bed. We asked to be moved to the correct room, but were told the hotel was fully booked, so we had to make do with one bed and a couch. Unfortunately, we also noticed cockroaches in the bathroom, which was disappointing. That said, the location is definitely the highlight of this hotel. Being so close to Coconut Mall was extremely convenient and made getting around easy.

We booked a room with 2 double beds, however at check-in we were given a room with one double bed and a couch, such was not optimal, but according to the receptionist, this way it was communicated through booking.com… was not possible to change the room as the hotel was full. Otherwise, great experience

The location was great! Also Peggy was about the only friendly person on the staff. I give it up to her giving this place a three star and not one star. The grounds were nice.

The lady with the dark black hair that checked us in at night was horrible. She should not be dealing with costumers at all. She was very rude to my husband and kept dismissing him as if he was in the room. She had us sign paper work without explaining what the charges were and I was trying to ask her I want the explanation of what it is that I’m signing before I sign it, which is legally what you do. We got our key and never that free drink voucher just coupons to use across the street and a free movie coupon. So we climb up to the third floor to our room open the door and right away your hit with an odor of old Misty smell. We hear this alarm sound coming from the room and we’re like what the heck is that turns out it was the AC unit. We just got in at a late flight. Couldn’t get any sleep all night because of the AC and you can’t turn it off and leave your door open because it’s so hot outside. We had to call down the next day and Peggy was at the front desk, which was just a delight to meet her and she saved us a fan for her room. The room itself was dirty wasn’t clean properly. You open the cabinet where the ironing board in the lock box is and it’s just smelly like mold in there. Everything‘s outdated the furniture needs to be updated. It’s just very old and not taking care of the drain in the bathtub. Has a broken seal. That’s been just left their broken which I took photos of everything. For the price that they’re charging $200 a night to 250 is totally not worth it. Go look for another place. The swimming pool is not big enough for all those units as well.
