We were not able to stay - the owner cancelled last minute

We were very disappointed with the property & the owners, as they cancelled our booking for New Year a short time before our stay when we had booked a meal, ordered outfits for New Year & went to additional expense, so at a loss. We were advised that the owner may be visiting at the weekend and next thing we heard the booking was cancelled with no real explanation. We can only surmise that the owners opted to stay for New Year themselves. This totally ruined our plans and was too late to book any other alternative. We would have expected some form of re-imbursement for our loss of funds
