Hotel Fuggerhof Oberstdorf

Perfect location right on the edge of a huge cross country ski trail/Field. We had our Labrador Retriever and she absolutely loved running around out there int snow. The hotel was cozy and really easy to park and offload all your gear, especially if you are on the first floor. No Lobby or elevator. straight to beautiful room with a balcony looking out at the German Alps... Close by are the resorts, still figuring out the best way to them. I drove and that was weird but parking was easy and close to the Baun. Downtown was really easy to walk to with many different types of restaurants and of course, a great Irish Pub...we will be back.

I stayed here 5 nights (11 - 16 Sept 2023) and thought it was absolutely fine. My simple, single (en-suite) room was perfect for what I needed (it didn't have a mountain view but that didn't matter). The breakfast buffet was generous, varied and tasted great. And the staff were friendly, attentive and patient with my rusty German! You also get (in summer season, at least) the Walser Card which gives discounts on a number of attractions, local transport and cable cars - sadly, I didn't realise until after it's also valid at the Dampfbierbrauerei (steam beer brewery, which is also worth a visit..!). The hotel is located about 12mins' walk from the village centre stores, bars and restaurants. I came to Oberstdorf for the Viehscheid (festival marking the bringing down of the cattle into the valley from the high alpine pastures), and the hotel is situated perfectly on the right side of the village for this. Similarly for the ski jumping centre. There's also possibilities for hiking/biking direct from the hotel out across the meadows, or onto any of the other hundreds of kilometres of trails around the village. I'd certainly have no issue staying here again.

Positives first. The hotel was immaculately clean and very friendly staff. with comfortable rooms, an excellent breakfast buffet and a marvellous view. Negatives. The hotel was very different from its advert. It has NO restaurant. We had to drive out every evening to find a meal. There is no bar or proper lounge only a small fridge at the end of the breakfast room. There is no lift and parking at the weekend was difficult.Our balcony was lovely, but the hedge in front badly needed cutting and restricted our view of the meadow. Without these things I do not feel the hotel entirely reflects good value for money.

Lovely clean room with stunning views from the balcony. Good facilities. Short walk to the town bars and restaurants etc. Great breakfast on the terrace. Parking on site.

Nothing to dislike really but expensive for a one night stay - obviously paying for the view.

Das Hotel ist sehr sehr schön. Das Personal sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Umgebung ist traumhaft schön. Mit den Bergen, sehr schön zum wandern.

Super waren die Lage, der Ausblick, das Frühstück, Personal & Service sowie der Umgang mit Problemen (wir waren nicht so glücklich mit dem Heißwasservorrat, aber das wurde mehr als kulant gelöst) - wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!!
