Comfy beds , excellent staff and breakfast

It’s location is central to Cardiff

Only one lift working so had to wait a while to use it

Stayed with my partner for Pride weekend. Staff were very welcoming and pleasant throughout the stay. From reception staff to the staff at breakfast and the cleaners we saw in the corridors. We felt very welcome. The rooms are a really good size. Everything was clean.

Unfortunately the hotel is just very run down and needs a lot of financial investment to make it what it could be. It needs a lot of painting and plastering. The lift door looks like they belong in an old multi storey car park. The signs on the walls are printed from MS Word and blutacked to the wall. It just doesn’t feel as professional or loved as it should be for a hotel with a fabulous location and history, with a beautiful welcoming staircase in the lobby area. Tried getting a drink in the bar in the evening but there were no staff serving and despite hanging around we just gave up.

Rooms could do with a little upgrade paying £150 for one night is a lot

The location was great as it was in front of the castle, and easy to get to the shops Thank you for the rose petals and box of chocolates, for our anniversary.

There was a ball of hair left in the drain plug of the bath We would of appreciated if the staff warned us about the road closure ,due to the Pride festival, and therefore tell us to remove the car before the road closure despite the check out being at 11am, luckily we woke up earlier then planned and when asked the traffic marshal he reccomanded us to remove the car as quickly as possible cos once the bollards was up, we would have been basically stuck there.
