The road to the lodge was a bit treacherous but the views at the top were amazing

The hotel offers truly stunning scenery, with a beautiful pool area and an exceptional bar and restaurant that make the setting feel very special. Our villa was beautifully designed, with an extremely comfortable bed and a peaceful terrace that was perfect for relaxing. The breakfast was great. The staff were also consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

As the hotel is located high up the mountain, access requires taking a shuttle from a designated waiting area at the bottom. The road is extremely steep and narrow, and the journey can feel quite intimidating, especially for anyone uncomfortable with heights as the shuttle resembles a large golf buggy travelling close to the edge in places. Thankfully, we did not experience this journey during rainy weather. The shuttle schedule can also be quite restrictive. It runs every hour at 30 minutes past on the clock going down the mountain and once an hour on the hour coming back up, with the last shuttle departing at 10:00 PM. Missing the final shuttle creates significant difficulties, as driving up independently is not advisable and walking back up is almost impossible due to the steep terrain. On one evening, after a busy day, we chose to have dinner at a local warung about 10 minutes from the shuttle pick up point. Because the restaurant was busy and service took longer than expected, we had to rush through our meal to avoid missing the last shuttle, which created unnecessary stress and anxiety. Extending the final shuttle time to 11:00PM or midnight would greatly improve the guest experience. During our stay, a local vehicle broke down on the narrow road leading down from the hotel, which prevented the shuttle from passing. The hotel explained that there was little they could do other than wait, which is understandable as it was outside of their control. However, this caused us to arrive 30 minutes late for a pre booked excursion, despite carefully planning our timing around the shuttle schedule. Fortunately, the excursion provider was very understanding, but this is something future guests should be mindful of particularly if they have important travel arrangements such as flights or ferry connections. The mosquito nets were a little stained with what looked like splattered blood and further yellow stains. They could do with being washed or changed completely.

Las vistas, la decoración y la comida del restaurante. Está muy bien para una estancia de 1 o 2 noches si te apetece no hacer nada y descansar (no para visitar Amed).
