"The Red Lipn"

8.0

Big comfortable, warm, quiet and the bar had Guinness Zero.

Nothing. In an ideal world however asI am vegan it was difficult finding something to eat when I arrived around 8.30 I tried the Castle but the kitchen was closed. It's asking a lot to cater for a vegan I know.

"Characterful hotel in a perfect location for walks in the Beacons"

9.0

Spacious room, character and really friendly and helpful staff. Great location for hiking in the Beacons. Second time we’ve stayed here and we will come back for sure.

Restaurant wasn’t open but we found a lovely pub in the next town for dinner

"A remarkable weekend in a listed property with some amazing features right in a middle of Llangadog."

9.0

The accomodation is in historic17th century Georgian coach house right in the centre of a bustling village with a well stocked butcher and a convenience store on the opposite side. Just thinking of all generations that previously stayed there gives one a comforting sense of belonging to a tribe of Eternal travellers tribe on a quest of perpetual exploration. The rooms named after English monarchs are lavishly appointed with canopied beds which are incredibly spacious to sleep in.We stayed in Henry VIII room. The house features some curiosities from a long time ago: a lavishly binded Bible in a glass case downstairs, a fine example of a medieval commode with carved facade wedged behind the bar, and to my particular delight, a medieval , probably French infantry helmet made of forged steel , riveted known as chape le fer and a horse man's axe the kind Robert the Bruce used to such a devastating effect when challenged by an English knight in an apocryphal duel aftermath the battle of Bannockburn. I have found quite a few pictorial representations of a similar axe used by knights on horse ( standing on their stirrups and using both of their hands to deliver a blow that can literally cleave through the helmet) an authentic piece even The Wallace collection could be proud to display. How it came in possession of a village pub an enigma I am not capable to comment on! Unfortunately the dining hall featuring modern replicac swords and pictures of knights was not open for dinner because of the low season we enjoyed traditional breakfast and very good it was too. Hopefully we will be back during High season for a leg of Welsh lamb we enjoyed when we visited earlier in 2021.

We were quite happy as it was. The staff was incredibly accommodating as we were the only guests !!!

Loved our overnight stay here, on check in was told that breakfast was included. We had a very nice evening meal and a full English breakfast and both meals were very good. Staff are exceptional, locals really friendly. Mattress was a little smaller than the frame but we found it comfortable and loved the soft pillows. More than enough toiletries and teas/coffees in the room. Absolutely incredible for the amount we paid, above and beyond what I expected. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
