Holiday Inn Express - Plattsburgh by IHG

Everything was great except the complimentary breakfast. All the juices were empty, eggs were overcooked and mostly out of everything.

Just don't. This is the Holiday Inn EXPRESS of which I speak, not the Holiday Inn next door which was immaculate when we stayed albeit under construction. ( diff owner. I was told).) We have stayed at Holiday Inn Express exclusively due to my husband's business travel. Mostly good but over the last few years definitely going downhill. This was our fifth time to stay at this particular Holiday Inn Express. Had misgivings about staying there again because the previous time there appeared to be families living in the hotel who would show up at breakfast in slippers and bathrobes every morning at breakfast. Bags of garbage in the halls. -the lobby is very clean -breakfast eating area is very clean and well-stocked. Standard free breakfast. -they upgraded us to a suite Ok. The suite. -Filthy carpet. Gross spots on the carpet. Lots of them. - Bedding had clearly not been changed. Wrinkled, hair in the bed. My husband went down and requested clean sheets from the front desk. They said housekeeping would bring them. Never happened. I was going to change them myself but they never arrived. It was late. Finally we just slept in those nasty sheets. I requested a bed change the next day. They did not enter our room EVER for the four nights we were there except to bring towels which we had to ask for. I asked at the front desk for clean sheets. Nope. Housekeeping had to bring them. They finally did with attitude. Two top sheets for a double bed, so too small. That's what we used. -gross white crusty spots on the couch and other strange stains -absolutely filthy pull -out sofa mattress with black mold and yellow stains -Bathroom seemed clean -dead bugs here and there -greasy hand prints on sliding glass door -mattress was wallowed out down to the metal frame on one side. Had to sleep in the middle of the bed. -oh! And the bugs. My husband got about 30 bug bites on his neck, face, shoulders and hands, seemingly from the pillows on the bed. I used my own pillow, no bug bites. This is just an overview. Just go next door to the Holiday Inn, skip the Express.

Hot breakfast, ample parking, able to reach staff, staff quick when requesting room towels or toiletries. Fridge worked although was fairly warm. Room has its own thermostat but battery was dying so it was touchy.

The breakfast omelets and sausages were kept too hot and were burned and tough. The day before it took 30 minutes to check in while employees talked amongst themselves. We were greeted with dirty room floors, hair on the toilet and in shower, fridge was warm and employee told us to move the fridge and adjust thermostat in the back. Pool wasn’t very warm and had globs of hair floating in it (over 2 different days) and pool towels weren’t stocked, employee gave us rolled up wet towels with hair on them and said they were clean when they were obviously used. Pool camera turned towards wall, floors never cleaned. A girl’s hockey team had visited the night before. The windows on the third floor open fully - not great with a 3 and 5 year old.

I like this hotel and it gave me a new look at the Holiday Inn Express, a chain I previously looked down upon. Clean room well laid out plus microwave and fridge. I like how the sink has liquid soap on the wall. In many ways I felt that this hotel "gets" me and took care of the little things that matter to me. Breakfast was solid, even a little different from the same-old, same-old. Exercize room could use some more equipment but that might be my only quibble. Front desk staff was helpful

You won't find a better group of people at this hotel! Front desk, housekeeping, continental breakfast, and Maintenance were all outstanding!!!

Stay was amazing, only issue was the dripping shower. Made sleeping a little frustrating.

Comfortable hotel, friendly staff, Fitness center and pool, breakfast included, free parking, convenient location off I-87, EV chargers in parking lot.
