Snug Harbor Resort and Marina

Snug Harbor Resort is the secret gem of San Juan Island, Washington. With a quick drive from Friday Harbor, you are in a charming, restful, and beautiful place with lots to do (hiking, kayaking, biking if you wish). We rented a two-bedroom cabin: all have large picture windows and views of the marina, and are extremely comfortable, clean, and well equipped with basic cooking and serving utensils. The location is on the western side of the island, where the sunsets and water views are stunning. It's conveniently located for hiking up Mount Young near Roche Harbor, where we went afterwards to lunch at Madrone Bar; and then, on day two, to the Lime Kiln Preserve, where we watched for whales and walked in to learn about the history of the island's lime industry. We had a perfect weekend and would definitely like to go back.

This is a beautiful resort in a quiet , peaceful part of San Juan Island. The room was very clean and comfortable. The views were gorgeous. Nice coffee and snack shop . The landscaping was beautiful.

Snug Harbor resort was amazing for a weekend gateway for our family of 3. We chose the two bedroom cabin, with a queen bed and 2 twin beds. The cabin was ready when we arrived. Check-in was quick and hassle free. The cabin was clean, with ample parking space nearby. The bed linen and bath linen smelled clean and they had even provided extra bath linen. They do have a coffee shop and a small grocery store to buy essentials. The cabins overlook the marina, where you can also do kayaking. The ambience was great 👍🏻. The only con was that the resort is on the western side of the island, a 15 min drive from Friday Harbor ferry terminal and all the popular restaurants. Overall, a great experience for us. Definitely recommend.

My daughters and I stayed here two nights during our spring break in April 2026. We had a one bedroom cabin with water views and it was a great experience. The Resort is right on the water and offers kayaks and life vests for adventures in the bay. They also have two fire pits and corn hole games set up for family and friend fun. Set back from the main streets, the whole place was quiet and relaxing. The cabin is spacious and was very clean. The pull out bed from the couch could have used a better mattress (those can be tricky!) and there was only one mirror in the whole place which made it difficult for three grown women trying to get ready in the mornings. Other than that, the stay was perfect. Friendly staff, nice coffee/market place in the Lobby was just an added bonus. I highly recommend a stay here if you're on San Juan Island.

The location was perfect for us, very quiet area and just close enough to Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor and the many parks. The resort looked even better in person than on the website. Our cabin was clean, well supplied and everything worked fine. The complex is maintained to a high standard. It is a very short walk to each cabin, nice as you are not surrounded by cars. Staff was great and the Mochas in the cafe were delicious. It was well worth the trip and we highly recommend.

The picnic table on the deck was severely rotted out on one side. Not an issue, as it’s not summer, but should be noted:) Overall, it’s a beautiful place and I enjoy staying here.

Excellent location, easy to get to, easy to check in and check out, very clean and quiet with great views. Would highly recommend.
