Barceló Montecastillo Golf

The hotel has a great terrace that overlooks the golfcourse. The pool was nice and spacious (although cold). Room was spacious. Food in the restaurant was above expectations and enough on the menu for 2 days of lunch and dinner. But I would have liked to have more/better wines on the menu... The whole atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed and comfortable. Great value for money!

The room was a bit outdated and smelled musty. Initially the airco could not be switched on but after complain that activated it. It made it better. The breakfast was always very noisy because of noisy kids, not a joy! I missed fine wines on the menu in the restaurants.

We had an extremely disappointing stay at Montecastillo Hotel. We have stayed here many times for the track but next time will stay elsewhere. From the very start, our experience was poor. We were moved rooms three times during our stay. Despite booking the junior suite, there were none available. We then had to pay extra for a two bedroom villa which was completely unacceptable—it smelt strongly of mould and damp, making it uncomfortable and clearly unsuitable for guests. The biggest issue, however, was the constant early morning disturbance. Every single morning of our 9-night stay, we were woken up at 6am by staff cleaning golf carts with a high-pressure hose less than 50 metres from our room. The noise was incredibly loud—so much so that it even with the windows closed it sounded like a lawn mower was inside the room. We raised this issue multiple times, calling reception during the disturbance and also speaking to staff in person on four separate occasions. Despite this, nothing was done to address the problem. After four nights of ongoing disruption, we emailed the hotel director about the issue with a video asking for the issue to be resolved. Dissapointingly, he didn’t even bother to reply. The constant early morning disturbance and complete absence of response from management made the stay feel more like a boot camp than a holiday. Such a shame as we would have returned many times.
