The pool area.

While the architecture of the property overall is appealing, the property is rundown especially the guest rooms. I booked a double occupancy room which was handicap accessible. The bathroom did not have any area to put your toiletries. I had to use the ironing board to put my things on. The tile in the shower was cracked and uneven with gaps. The most inconvenient part was that we did not have hot water neither in the shower nor sink. I had to call the front desk twice to ask for someone to come to the room to fix the water issue. I only stayed 2 nights so each day there was an issue including the day I checked out. There was also a dead cockroach in the room, the windows had a heavy film on them and looked like they hadn’t been washed in months and the room overall needed some TLC. I addressed my concerns with the assistant manager when I checked out. She was apologetic and gave me a refund for one night (I stayed 2 nights).

Area was very convenient.

I love that this Wyndham property is a historical landmark and one of the first hotels in McAllen. The accommodations are comfortable and the staff is always ready to help with whatever requests guests have! I would definitely return on subsequent visits to McAllen.

I have the beef stick Ranchero, however, it was supposed to come with avocado and pico de gallo, and it did not.

The bathrooms looked a little old.
