"Phenomenal Experience"

10.0

This was the best location we've stayed in during our entire Puglia-Naples-Salerno-Amalfi Coast-Positano vacation. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. Rooms were cleaned daily. Breakfast was your standard European breakfast of croissants, with added crackers, an espresso machine, cookies, yogurt and milk - which was great because other B&Bs only provided prepackaged, tasteless croissants as part of their 'breakfast included'. I don't often write reviews, but felt especially compelled to write one this time because the owner was so attentive, generous and overall amazing. She went out of her way to not only answer any questions we had, but if she didn't know, helped find resources/options for us. On the last day, she even offered to drive us to the train station! I doubt this is a service to be expected, but again proved she's more than willing to help and be of great service where she can.

"Last minute gem in Salerno"

10.0

Called this B & B after taking a punt on the title from our Tom Tom and the line was engaged. Whilst driving Alessia called back and advised we could stay the night. The property was easy to find and Alessia and her mother Lucia meet us at the front door. We had a rental car so they showed us where to park and not get a ticket. Good lift to second floor. Room was spacious and clean with fridge and free wifi. All this at 10pm at night!! Breakfast was left out for us as we were leaving early. Excellent service, great location and lovely B and B. Would stay again.

"Enjoyed our stay"

8.0

We stayed 3 nights at this lovely B&B. Located on the 2nd floor of an apartment building with a lift. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable with a small ensuite. The B& B was attractively decorated. While the room was fairly large, there was only a very small table and small beside tables, so limited space to put anything down, except for the (clean) floor. This wasn't a big issue, but it would be good to have a little more table or shelf space. We have extremely limited Italian and the owner, Alessia, had extremely limited English. Still we managed to communicate the important things like whether we wanted tea or coffee for breakfast, where was a good place to eat and where to catch the bus to Amalfi. Breakfasts were fine and one evening when we came home we were greeted by Alessia's mother who insisted we have some of her delicious homemade strawberry cake. The B&B is a bit of a hike from the train station, but is walkable. There are buses if you know where to catch them.

"Ideal B&B"

10.0

B&B Verdi is on the second flloor of a building with a reliable lift. Limited number of rooms but each very spaciuos and perhaps the very cleanest we have ever experienced. Very comfortable beds. Allicia and her mother Lucia are an absolute delight. They don't live on the premises but do live nearby. Breakfasts are quite substantial and we never managed to eat everything. There is a very comfortable common room. Location is not the most convenient to the train station being about a 15 to 20 minute walk but itdoes allowyou to check outthevarious restaurants and shops that Salerno has to offer. Strong recommendation.

"really accomodating"

10.0

We had a great time at the b&b. Very clean and spacious. Really friendly owners who will help with whatever you need. The rooms are really nice- sometimes you can hear traffic as the roads are busy but you are staying in a city. We didn't have any issues with the locks or anything as some reviewers have. The value and hospitality of Alicia and Luccia make this a place to return too if wanting to explore the Amalfi coast.

"Warm, friendly and beautifully decorated"

10.0

My partner and I stayed here for one night during stopover to getting the boat the next day to Amalfi and Positano. Lucia was a warm and welcoming host, inviting us into her home with coffee and recommendations for where to go. The rooms are beautifully decorated and all the small touches mean you won't be disappointed. From the fully stocked bathrooms to the homemade pastries it was a delight to stay here. Lucia will help you with anything you need, including phoning the ferry office for us to find out Sunday times (not on the usual flyer). Would recommend and return again.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The B & B is actually a three bed apartment on the 2nd floor in a fairly old building. It is tastefully decorated with art works on the walls and a comfortable lounge/breakfast room. I think the owner lives in the same building, or very close by. We found the owner, Lucia (helped by her daughter and sister), helpful and concerned that we got the best out of our stay. Despite almost no English, and on our part, just phrase-book Italian, we managed to communicate using a bit of French and a lot of sign language. She is quite a character! The room was comfortable and clean, though limited storage because the shelving contained extra bedding (you could probably ask the owner to remove this if you don't need it) and our particular room had a sweet little terrace with pot plants and a small table and chairs. There were only a couple of minus points - the key to the main entrance was very difficult to use. There was a problem with the lock, and you needed a certain knack to get it to turn. Fortunately, there always seemed to be someone coming in or going out, and once a lad who lived in the building dashed over from a cafe to help us, when he saw we were having difficulties. I actually managed to find the trick in the end, but my daughter couldn't open the door, despite trying several times. This is not in any way the fault of the B & B - and I think people in the building are going to try to get it fixed. The other minus point was that the breakfast was a bit too 'sweet' for our liking. It consisted of cakes, doughnuts, yoghurt and cereal if you requested it. We prefer plain crusty rolls or just toast. As with many B & B set ups (including U.K.) you are seated at a large communal table for breakfast with the other guests occupying the other two rooms, so if you are shy and find it difficult to communicate with strangers, especially those who don't speak much English, or just don't like having to make conversation early in the morning rather than have long awkward silences, you might find breakfast time a bit heavy-going. Personally, I enjoy chatting with people, so it wasn't a problem for me, and Lucia is on hand to get the party going. There is no kettle in the room for tea or coffee but I think there is one in the lounge - we weren't told about this, but noticed a kettle and cups in the corner on our last day. The B & B is in an excellent location. I was amazed at how many restaurants and cafe's there were in a fairly small area - just 5 to 10 minutes from the hotel. It is close to the promenade next to the sea (nice to walk along in the evening) and beach (a bit rough, but we used it a couple of times). It is also 5 minutes' walk to the port where you get ferries to Amalfi, Capri, etc. We were able to comfortably walk to the ferry in a few minutes - the pavement is fairly smooth all the way - luckily no pebbled areas, so easy to pull a wheely suitcase. One tip about Salerno. Banks with ATM's are rare. Also banks don't open on a Saturday. I had a stressful experience, because you have to pay the hotel bill by cash. I needed to pay the day before we left, a Saturday, because we weren't going to see the owner the next day, Sunday (leaving early in the morning). When I went to get cash out of the Barclays with an ATM, which is in Via Roma, it was out of order. I had used this the day before, but there is a 300 euro limit. I spent a hot and stressful hour looking for a bank with an ATM, but none of the, at least, five banks I found, had an ATM outside. Finally I decided to ask at the port area, where we had bought our ferry tickets the previous day. Fortunately, the girl who had sold us the ferry tickets, recognized me and very kindly showed me a bank near her office with an ATM. (Bank of Napoli I think). All in all a good experience and nice to meet real Italian people.

"Wonderful welcome and service"

10.0

If you want to experience the real warm southern italian welcome you must go to this bb; the ladies who manage the bb are wonderful and they will help you for any aspect of your holiday, the room is extremely comfortable and clean, the breakfast is full of delicious typical cakes and they will ask you what do you like for breakfast. Furthermore, you are in the centre of Salerno and you can go everywhere, including eating in the best restaurants in the centre. Wi fi free. I was there for work but I will surely come back for a romantic holiday

"I would definitely stay here again"

10.0

The room has an ensuite bathroom. The room and bathroom were very clean. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and there were extra pillows too. The mother and daughter hosts were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel at home throughout our stay. The daughter, Alessia, had breakfast prepared for us every morning. It would be a good spread of bread, yoghurt, fruit juice and coffee or tea. There were basic toiletries provided as well. The room would be cleaned every afternoon. Overall, a very good experience. The central bus station is quite a walk away. There's a bus stop near the apartment building but not all the buses go to the central station so you might need to ask someone. There's also a bus that goes to Sorrento from the bus stop that is directly opposite the apartment building. Check the guide. Also, you can buy bus tickets from the central bus station instead of the convenience stores. Some stores don't sell all the ticket options.
