Bellingham Lodge

THANK YOU to the staff who got up early on Aug 24 to provide the continental breakfast for us cyclists at 5am who needed to eat and leave for the RSVP ride start by 6am - it was a nice surprise to hear that this was happening for us. I really appreciate this "extra" that was clearly not required, but the staff made happen. Thanks again!

Pros: Rooms were clean, beds were comfy, the heating and cooling were quite responsive, the lodge was close to WWU as we desired, and the staff were friendly.

Cons: The hanging light in one room (attached to the switch by the door) didn't work, one of the bulbs in the other bathroom was out, the room keys didn't work at the outside door closest to our room and had to be rekeyed to our rooms as well, would have been nice to have some fruit for breakfast. The building overall is obviously older and could use a makeover: carpets are stained in the hallways, floors are squeaky, and it smelled a bit musty.

It was a decent price compared to other motels in the area. Parking was good.

It has been poorly maintained. It has old furniture and carpeting and curtains and bedding and the place smells from years of neglect.

We were traveling overnight to drop our daughter at college so the location, right off I-5 near WWU was good. The price was reasonable, and staff was friendly. But in the future, we'll just pay more and stay somewhere else.

When we arrived late at night, there were several sketchy individuals in the parking lot, two were smoking pot and one was dancing around talking to himself. I did not feel good about leaving our car with all of our daughter's belongings in the parking lot. The building smelled like stale ashtray. We had no plans to use the jacuzzi in our room, but wouldn't have used it if we had, as the jets looked pretty gross. The breakfast was just ok. Yogurt, cereal, and toast. The coffee was horrid and we are not coffee snobs. We're pretty happy with plain old folgers. We were not looking for luxury since it was just a place to sleep a few hours before dropping our kid off at college, and we're used to budget accommodations, but this one did not live up to recent positive reviews we read. We've stayed at nicer places for less money.

I liked the quietness of the hotel. The breakfast could have more options but over all wasn’t the worst.

The breakfast could have more to it. The staff was nice but they don’t let you play in the pool.
