Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

The view overlooking the watering hole was amazing.. we saw so many animals in the space of 4 days. Added to this the staff were exemplary and could not be more attentive.

One of kind luxurious hotel, stunning architecture, beautiful interior design and easily to spot elephants, zebras, impala, monkeys and hawks. Free shuttle bus services to shopping centers, banks, Victoria Falls and airport. Management pays attentions to feedback. Client service manager Lin is above and beyond.

Front desk representatives should treat each customer with equal respect (one clerk stopped helping me and initiated a new service for a white couple behind me). Room service manager should make rounds and make sure clients room are cleaned timely (during my stay, my room wasn’t cleaned until 9:00PM and after several requests to clean). Both incidents were communicated to hotel management which apologized and will improve going forward.

Although there are many great options, and perhaps more modern, for lodgers in this area near Victoria Falls, the ability to be able to watch animal activity real-time in the bush areas as well as in the surrounding water hole area makes VFSL a favorite. Although it is not the newest property, it is well maintained and the staff is quite attentive. We were able to witness a crocodile execute a death roll against what looked to be, perhaps, a warthog in the water hole area while we ate breakfast. The night before, at dinner, a large herd of elephants were minding their own business, re-hydrating themselves, when some sort of night cat approached them in order to, we assume, find some food. While the remaining elephants continued to enjoy the water, the largest of the elephants bellowed a loud trumpet while chasing the cat away before returning to return the other pachyderms. We've never seen anything like this. Just, wow ! Also, don't be so sure that you won't see anything from your hotel room if you don't book a water-hole viewing room. We stayed in both water-hole side rooms and a bush view room and, while the experience was different, we saw plenty of animals in both cases, and actually enjoyed the bush view room better.

We did receive some invalid information from one of the front desk staff members. We had booked our initial 2 nights through a tour company, but also, an additional night, independently. When we asked a particular front desk member to confirm if we could stay in the same exact room throughout our stay, the representative checked 'something', thought a bit, and then said "Your wish is granted ... you may stay in the same room throughout". It turned out that was wrong, so that, by the 10 A.M. time after our 2nd night we had to rush madly to get packed and then haul all 4 of our bags to a different room on the far side of the property in order not to miss check-out time. Other than this disappointment, the stay was great ! We'd recommend retraining for that employee.

We liked the people working at the lodge, we enjoyed the view from all areas of the property and the feeling of being close to nature.

We felt that the property needs maintenance attention and specifically the condition of the ensuite bathroom which is old and use damaged. In terms of the room experience - a makeover is well and long overdue!
