Für das Frühstück zuviel bezahlt. Man ist niemals fuer 19.00Franken Frühstück.

My stay went well, as always. For me, Hotel Artists is the best value-for-money option in Biel/Bienne.

Just one suggestion that might be useful: on Sundays the reception is closed, and guests must call a phone number displayed at the entrance to access the hotel. The issue is that the number doesn’t include the Swiss country code, and of course not everyone knows it by heart. I looked it up online and added +41, but my mobile carrier still wouldn’t complete the call. I eventually managed after about 10 minutes of trying… and I should add, it was night and it was snowing!!!!!! A more convenient solution for international guests would be an app-based access system or simply allowing entry via WhatsApp.

Simple, clean, modernist design

There are no staff! We didn’t see anyone to talk to despite the hotel not accepting Amex so they needed a different credit card from me but nobody was there to take the details and I had to call them to resolve (but could have just walked out). The hotel then asked me to email alternative credit card details which I wasn’t willing to do so have arranged alternative payment via bank transfer! With no reception we had to call a number upon arrival to be let in. There was a person stood by the night door smoking so the situation was not comfortable. They then came into the hotel behind us and followed us down the dark corridors. Fortunately there was two of us but for a solo traveller this is not safe. In the morning it is self serve breakfast with a note to clean up after oneself but again, nobody around to welcome you or speak to. All told, it felt like a posh men’s hostel and probably not somewhere I would choose to stay at again.
