Hideaway Santa Barbara, A Kirkwood Collection Property

Celebrated my 70th birthday with my girls. Upon arrival Brenden was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in the 4 person suite , the room was spacious and very clean . He even had a bottle of champagne chilling for us. Can’t say enough! Thanks for adding to my wonderful celebration weekend .

We loved our stay at Hideaway. The staff was super friendly. It was our first time in Santa Barbara, so they gave us suggestions on what to do. Other reviews said the parking was tight and the rooms were loud, which are somewhat true, but it didn’t affect us. Each room gets 1 parking spot, and the property is located on a somewhat busy road, but if you know how to back into a spot for easier getaway and aren’t hanging around your room in the afternoon/early evening, then the parking and noise shouldn’t bother you. We loved it and honestly wish we could have stayed longer. We can’t wait to go back to Hideaway.

Absolutely loved this place! Super cute and charming but still modern. It was close enough to walk around town for shopping and dining but also felt secluded. The staff is sweet and welcoming. We also loved being able to watch a movie with streaming instead of just basic cable at “normal” hotels. The breakfast was also great! Can’t wait to come back!

We booked last minute as we were traveling through with our pup. All staff was fantastic. Although we didn’t need a handicapped room, this is what was available. Overall a great room, but the bathroom design was not safe for even a healthy adult. The attempted design for a shower was poorly graded with limited water containment. Combine this with slippery tiles that have zero traction and it’s just an accident waiting to happen. Proceed with caution if mobility is limited in any way.

First glance, the property was cute and quaint and had a warm inviting vibe. Unfortunately my bed had dirt and hair all over it and was uncleaned. Housekeeping leaves at 4pm and the man at the front desk offered to change the top layer of the blanket. I then saw the sheets were also dirty and full of hair. They moved my room to a room in the lobby, it didn’t have a latch on the door. They left a mop in the bathroom and whoever was above me stomped around the whole night. I felt like I was in a hostel not a $300++ a night hotel.No consideration for guest experience.. I’ve tried to speak to someone in management for two weeks and have been told someone resigned and someone would cal me back after looking Into this. Corporate doesn’t answer their phone either. Super disappointing. Do better Kirkwood Collection.

This place has so much potential but seems mismanaged. Rooms are dirty, smelled like Fabulosa cleaner the entire stay. Air vent was dusty and dirty, sink had crusty yellow hard water stains, floors were sticky, rug was filthy, end tables were sticky. The rooms are so close together you can hear EVERYTHING which wasn’t really an issue until the upstairs guests got home at 10:15pm and were loudly walking around their room for an hour while our 5-month old baby tried to sleep. It’s a shame because it’s a fairly central location to the Funk Zone and State St. It was also way overpriced for what we got. Read the reviews before you book this place— I hope they are able to turn it around.
