Gruene River Hotel & Retreat

The breakfast was absolutely wonderful!

The landscaping and interior decor were stunning. The entire property was spotless, inside and out. We stayed in the Homestead, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on.

The river was low, so there wasn’t much access to moving water. It was very hot outside, so a pool or dip in the river would’ve been welcomed.

It was really nice. I was disappointed in the Service. No one to help really do anything any time we needed Service or help it was differently NOT professional or helpful. This is NOT a HOTEL it’s a small Inn. Be prepared to make all your own arrangements the people in the office other than checking you Expect nothing else. 3 nights $1000 was it worth it? NO if I wanted to haul bags up and down stairs zero service I didn’t use the breakfast. As a Business woman I was working the whole time each time I went to the office for local information I was pointed to the wall of cards and handed 2 numbers. The roaches in the Rooms and mouse droppings were extra Unwanted and No where to get anything to drink or eat in the evening a fridge Zero Drinks in it. So it’s NOT a HOTEL and Nothing about it was a Retreat the 100+ down to the river They had Tubes we had to BLOW them UP and then dragged them 100+ downstairs to swamp like area no where to enter safely and then have to go back up with the tubes. When it comes to service ZERO I asked for the Name on the Receipt to be corrected for Business couldn’t even get that done.

This was a pefect place to stay for a romantic getaway. The rooms are so beautifully decorated and clean. The staff were very friendly and attentive. My husband and I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning and of course the happy hour in the evening . These were great benefits that is included in your stay! Everything in downtown Gruene is within walking distance too! We will definitely be back to this romantic oasis.

The Gruene River Hotel was a lovely place to spend a long weekend. My husband were very comfortable in their New York room. The AC worked well and the bed was very comfortable. The property was located right on the water and was beautiful. We sat on the porch a few times to enjoy the scenery and say deer walking by on the ridge. The breakfast was magnificent. Every morning we were treated to yummy eggs, biscuits and gravy. I loved the green chili grits and hashbrown casserole! We were walking distance from all the sites in Gruene, TX.
