Gorgeous and well equipped traditional home with a peaceful garden in the back

The machiya was very well equipped with high end kitchen utensils, linen and bedding as well as a clear instruction booklet. Prompt response to request for help with a light.

Check in very limited window between 4pm to 6pm. Being able to check in at 3pm or earlier if the place is available and if arriving later in the night would help. The check in is at a hotel reception desk so I can’t understand the very limited check in window.

This house is managed by a nearby hotel and was in top condition, prime location and well stocked. We enjoyed the short walk to restaurant and shops, the availability of a fully stocked kitchen and a water/dryer combo. It was interesting to stay in a traditional Japanese home. The bathroom was to die for! The shower/tub combo in one room was new to us and the hot air ventilation inside was great. I would highly recommend this place, I wish we would have stayed longer

We didn't mind, but you should be aware that seating is mostly Japanese style floor-level and there is a stairway up to the bedroom.

We loved this property. It is well located in a beautiful area of Kyoto. Traditional Japanese house but modernised, clean and comfortable with an amazing bathroom. The cleaning staff came regularly and were friendly. We would definitely rent this house again !

Location is very good.

House was clean and very pretty. Was located close to gion in a nice neighbourhood.

Extra charges for everything, including early check-in and with a price per person staying there (despite us renting the entire property). This predilection to charge extra for everything wasn't welcome.
