American Inn Cedar Rapids South

The two big reasons I booked this hotel was (1) breakfast, and (2) pool. Neither were available during my stay. I’m actually scheduled to return next week, and I’ve booked at another hotel.

To expensive and to many stupid rules

We got to the hotel late. The owner had the paperwork all ready. Quick friendly check in. Simple but clean room with a comfortable bed.

The room was a comfortable 70 degrees when we walked in. It was 0 degrees outside. We should have turned the heat down before we went to bed because we woke up in the middle of the night and were too hot. Turned the heat down and slept comfortably the rest of the night. Very clean room. Quiet all night. Easy check-in and out. Will be staying here again for sure.

Room were very clean newly renovated and updated staff very nice

2 star hotel so wasn't expecting much. Some rooms allow smoking so the hallways did smell but our room surprisingly did not. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Continental breakfast was lacking and staff wasn't attentive. Parking lot was small.

The property was very clean and the rooms have been kept up.

When you drive 4 hours to a hotel you booked and paid for and then when you show up you're told there isn't a room with the bed size you've paid for thats bad business. They offered a room with two smaller beds, which would have been uncomfortable at best. Since it was already 11PM I offered to take the room if they were willing to negotiate the price. However they refused and told me all they could do was call other hotels to see if they had any rooms available. Which they did, but then the price they told me for those hotels was more expensive than a simple internet search. So I just booked a different place myself. Good luck getting what you paid for here, don't count on a room being available.

Clean, comfortable good staff. It's has all the basics you need to be comfy.no frills but none of the riff Raff you find at some competitively priced hotels in the area. Would recommend .
