Hotel Indigo Edinburgh by IHG

A great central location close to all the sights, the staff were really friendly and helpful , the room was spotless with a really comfy bed and great shower, the breakfast was freshly made with a great selection on offer, I will definitely stay again the next time I visit Edinburgh.

Portes tres bruyantes qui claquent en les fermant du fait du groom . Nous avons été réveillés violemment à plusieurs reprises pendant la nuit par des portes qui claquent . Nous étions dans la chambre 3 . C est vraiment dommage car sinon l hôtel est tres bien mais cela nous a gâché notre séjour . De plus il manquait une porte à la douche ,

Great location for Waverley station and for exploring Edinburgh. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good and plentiful. Everywhere was clean. The bed was comfortable. Our room was quiet, no street noise or noise from other guests. The shower was fabulous. Lovely complimentary touches.

Firstly I must note that the staff is lovely and tried very hard to help us with several issues that arose during our stay. They are welcoming, kind and clearly want to do a good job for their guests. But it’s clear that upper management has tied their hands - they have little control over anything including IHG program benefits. I also am inclined to blame upper management for the state of maintenance in the hotel. This is not a four star hotel. The rooms are very pretty and spacious but that’s not enough to raise a hotel into that category. Sadly we had a large number of maintenance issues. Upon arrival we discovered a dramatically broken table. It could not be fixed until the next day as there was no one on site to fix it, staff was not allowed, nor could they give us a screwdriver to fix it ourselves. Later that evening, we learned that the TV froze after a few minutes on any channel, the remote needed batteries, and the shower only had very hot water at its coldest setting (and scalding to the point it could cause serious burns, at its highest) . Several items were fixed the next day, but not the shower. My husband was able to tolerate the hot water (at the coldest setting) but I could not, and as a result could not use the shower for the two nights we stayed there. The location is great and again, staff were lovely. Upper management might want to consider how to empower them. We switched to The George after this and the difference in what they could do to accommodate guests (especially IHG members) was striking.
