Hyatt Place Topeka

The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was pretty good.

This is a Hyatt, so it is a bit pricy. I'm sure there are better values in Topeka, but at all costs you should avoid the SureStay Best Western in Topeka. That is a dump. The Hyatt is so far superior to that one it almost makes the stay worth the price.

Everything was awesome. Need a more friendly person during check in.

Just front desk to be a little more friendlier

The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and the room was spacious and quiet. They were busy with sports teams the day I stayed, but I woke up to ice-cold water for my shower and no plates for breakfast at 7:15 am. Not a great way to start the day.

We purchased the hotel room in advance of the day we were supposed to stay and had already paid. We went to check in at 1am and were told they needed to check if they have a clean room for us to stay in as their cleaning staff had challenges, therefore wasn’t able to clean all sold rooms. We received zero communication about this business interruption until we got to the hotel. We asked if there was a sister property or any help they could provide to help us with a hotel and the next closest property was in KC. The only solution that was presented to us was they had a clean room but was blocked from being used due to a leaking issue when it rains, and as we were trying to check in, it was actively storming. When I typically hear Hyatt we think professional, clean, and accountable. We did receive a refund, but this didn’t change the fact that we needed a place to stay that we purchased and had to figure this out at the last second without help from the business. I expected more from a business of this caliber to offer us more of an explanation, holding their staff accountable, and offering us something to try and make up for this mistake. I left the GM a voicemail and have yet to receive a call back. I’m Extremely disappointed in this property and wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you want uncertainty in getting a room to stay in.

Room layout was outstanding beds comfortable and the breakfast was out standing

The sheets on my bed felt like they had sand on them and had to brush them off so I could sleep.

No one at front desk for check. Waited 15 min. Called operator multiple times and tried to call sales staff and tried to contact manager. Want recognized as World of Hyatt member. Crazy.

Was charged $50 more than the reservation was supposed to be at check in. I was told this would cover any items from the hotel store I may want purchase. I said if I wanted to purchase something I’d put it on my debit card instead of charging it to my room. They said if nothing is charged to the room that I’d get the money back. My stay was Jan16th-18th. As of Jan 30th and multiple phone calls I still haven’t received the $50 back. They try to tell me they released it and that my bank must be holding it back. My bank doesn’t see that they’ve done anything other than charge me for the stay.

At first glance when I dropped my luggage off in the room it seemed ok and the bed was made. But when I settled in for the evening I realized the room had not been thoroughly cleaned. The bathroom was not cleaned, there was a razor still in the shower, a dirty hand towel and wash cloth on the floor under the sink and hair in the sink. At breakfast this morning the buffet was minimal and there was no eating utensils or napkins. Although this hotel is centrally located and close to the capital and has a nice design concept, I was very disappointed in my stay.
