Hyatt Place Topeka

Breakfast was fine even though it had to be in a conference room due to renovations going on.

Unsettling, unwelcoming, unsafe while under remodel construction. Check-in folks were lounging on lobby seating like at a frat party. Had called ahead to ask for room near first floor door as we were traveling with a dog who was not accustomed to public spaces - got the room but front desk was unaware hallway door was inaccessible due to construction team equipment. Worst was the window shades - torn and broken, wrapped up like they'd been taken out of dumpster, and we had to work to get them usable to allow us some privacy. Second worst was "breakfast will be around the corner" instructions at check-in, but there was no signage and lots of workers gathered in hallway outside the meeting room where food was, with a closed door. Parking lot is strewn with trash. Hyatt Place Topeka was one of our favorite hotels in all of our travels, but no longer. Asked to be contacted via review but no response.

They were in the midst of remodeling the facility. I wish I would have known when I booked.

There was renovations going on which we weren’t told about in advance. There was a stale smell in the room and breakfast was a very poor affair, dining room was closed as a result of the renovations and we were ‘fed’ in a meeting room . Food was terrible.

Spacious room, excellent staff

Construction everywhere with no notice, no freezer in refrigerator, hard couch, small bathroom, no meeting space while under construction.

Hotel is under renovations, however much more was being done than expected. Our TV did not work and each night we were told it would be looked at and it was not. Housekeeping did not come to our room once in our 5 day stay, or check if we needed anything. Rooms are large, however do need some love. Overall we would not stay again.
