Santo Tomas Hotel

The cleanliness, nice pool , Employees are very friendly.

The breakfast lacks meat protein, the juice is no very good . The pinto should not has cilantro. The hotel needs a soda machine.

How close it was to the center and also everything was so clean

Unfortunate circumstances, Our friends, joining us flying in from Minnesota, had their flights delayed by a huge blizzard that shut down flights across the USA. Even though I talked to Santo Tomas several times, even the day before, they would not budge on their “reservation policy” and would not change the reservation for those two days, even though when my husband and I arrived we discovered they had several vacant rooms available. Two years ago when there were wildfires in California and friends were delayed, Banana Azul in Puerto Viejo graciously accommodated us in a situation that the delay was beyond our control. There were many other things about Santo Tomas that were substandard, such as tv not working-properly , steep staircase that needed a handrail and a skimpy breakfast but all overshadowed by their blatant greed, unnecessary and cost us $330 snd left a bad taste in our mouth. A further note—-no complaints about the staff who were very nice but if course in their consultations with “ management “ were unable to help us.

Goed personeel en authentiek hotel. Iets gedateerd maar wel schoon. In kamer zitten geen echte ramen maar wel soort van bovenraam.

Ontbijt was heel simpel en basic. Toast met mij en jam.

Het bubbelbad met de glijbaan in een frisser bad was echt heerlijk! Bovendien voelde het als een veilige locatie om de vakantie te beginnen met een parkeerplaats.

Fortunately, I stayed in a deluxe room with a balcony, so I had natural light. The other rooms have no windows and are very dark, or people can see directly into the bed from the corridor. The only downside was the steep metal stairs, as the hotel has no elevator. The staff are helpful, and the garden is well maintained.

The hotel is located in a dangerous area (according to local Costa Rican business partners, who warned me to be very careful). There is a lot of trash nearby, and homeless people sleep or beg in the area. Breakfast could be better – it is prepared by one woman, so there is a long wait, and the selection is very limited. The coffee was not good.
