The staff were very kind & the hotel was very clean. The dinner I got served with my stay was amazing! The private bath house was also very nice. A lot of amenities provided. Free tea, ramen, etc. Be aware that the hotel is a far (about 30 minute) walk from the bus station and about 40 from the village. There are shuttle busses that will take you there, but they are small & only run at certain times. Plan ahead accordingly (I did not, which was my own fault.)

Beautiful hotel, tatami mat throughout the whole hotel lobby and hallways made the place feel very warm, cozy and full of character.

Beautiful - the only negative was that an excavator was parked right in the window views next to the river. You couldnt take a photo of the entire view without the excavator in it.

Very nice but there are other nicer Japanese hotels.

綺麗で居心地の良いホテルでした。夜泣きそばをいただいたり、輪投げをしたり、楽しい企画もあってプラスアルファの試みが良かったです。 星がとても綺麗に見えるので、夜空を楽しむ企画や窓側の席で食事をいただきましたが、夜のライトアップなどがあると素晴らしいと思いました。 また、白川郷までの交通機関がないので、レンタル自転車などあれば良いのにと思いました。

Refeições saborosas, bastante confortável, quartos enormes. Atendimento em inglês, opções de salas de banho privadas para pessoas com tatuagem. O único ponto é que fica distante da vila de shirakawa, uns 30 minutos a pé.

This was the best resort and onsen I have ever stayed in within central Japan! Huge rooms, delicious meals, and incredible value for price.

My spouse and I were on vacation with our adult son. This was our favorite hotel in Japan (out of the six hotels we stayed at). It's not the easiest to get to - the hotel's shuttle times are limited (otherwise it's a 30 minute walk from the bus station; no taxis in town), but you can leave luggage in lockers or other paid storage at Shirakawa-go bus station (which is what we did). At the bus station, you are in walking distance to everything you would want to see in Shirakawa, whereas the hotel is not walking distance to anything. The shuttle driver was very nice and helpful, as were all of the hotel staff. They spoke decent English - we used a translation app for more complex conversation. You should absolutely book room with board (includes breakfast and dinner) since there are no restaurants open anywhere nearby in the evening. You can do this on Expedia, contrary to what another review said. The kaiseki dinner was lovely. Our room was the most spacious and comfortable room we had in Japan - it looked out over the mountains and river, which was beautiful. The hotel is very traditional - all of the hallways are lined with tatami mats and no outdoor shoes allowed. The onsen were beautiful and peaceful - a perfect way to end the evening. Although you could easily go to Shirakawa-go as a day trip from Kanazawa or Takayama, we're glad that we decided to spend the night there - this hotel was worth it!
