The accommodation felt like a proper resort, completely separated from the rest of Mararikulam. It was really comfortable; everything we needed was available on the premises, so we could have stayed in the hotel if we wanted to, with no worries whatsoever. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a huge smile, and the staff's friendly, helpful attitude should be the gold standard everywhere. They were ready to arrange any trips or tours for us (Kerala Backwaters is a must if you're in the neighbourhood). We were surprised that we had access to canoes anytime during the day, which made our commute to the private ocean beach very convenient. The pool and poolside were also convenient, though I can imagine the space would be limited when all rooms are fully booked. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended our stay by one night. The food was full of taste and available at a reasonable price. Breakfast showed a nice day-to-day variation, and I was happy that so many of the available options were inherently gluten-free.

Our first room had a weird smell in the bathroom, which was addressed on the first day. However, even after fixing the drain, the smell somehow lingered. Perhaps the toilet's cistern in room 106 should be deep-cleaned or replaced. Our second room (due to our extension) was not nearly as comfortable; the bed in room 102 is probably ready to be replaced. There were a bunch of rather cheeky crows around the dining area during breakfast, and they should be kept out somehow if possible. My breakfast had to be replaced once because I left my food unattended for a minute.

The staff ate really friendly, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The restaurant is excellent and great for all meals and snack and drinks through the day. The pool and lounging area are fabulous and it’s fun to canoe to the beach

Supermooi boutique hotel. Zeer professionele en vriendelijke ontvangst. Heerlijk rustig. Marari Beach is nog niet overspoeld door toeristen. Leuk om met de kano naar het strand te gaan. Mooie, ruime kamer en buitenbadkamer, wat ons betreft altijd een bonus. Superlekker eten. Wij verbleven hier maar één nacht. Volgende keer blijven we zeker langer!

The staff were all excellent - nothing was too much trouble. We had a spacious, very comfortable room. We enjoyed the pool and restaurant set in beautiful grounds. The river access was great - we loved kayaking to the beach. Having the spa next door was definitely a bonus for yoga and massages.

A safe in the room would be useful.
