The staff were very accommodating , especially Mel and Clive the owners who made me feel very welcome and joined me in discussion with several locals, bar food was excellent as was the full English breakfast , ideal location x

Nice area, good real ale, food was pleasant and reasonably priced.

On arrival we were given the keys to room 11, on entering the room we discovered it hadn't been cleaned and the bed hadn't been made etc. It wasn't a pleasant start to the evening but in fairness the staff were apologetic when I went to reception and we were instead moved to room 1. Unfortunately, room 1 wasn't quite as big as room 11 and some basic facilities were lacking. In fairness, it was a double bed and the room was clean as reflected in my ratings, but there were a number of things in the room which made the stay slightly uncomfortable: - A very noisy toilet cistern/drainage system which made a deafening noise for a period of time when the chain was flushed or water was run in the sink. - Only one compatible plug socket next to the bed resulting in only being able to use one bed side lamp and one of us having to charge our phone on the other side of the room. - The kettle didn't reach the plug socket properly and it either had to be balanced on the edge or placed on the floor to use. - Blinds that didn't fully shut resulting in some light pollution throughout the night. - The bathroom door didn't shut properly and remained slightly adjar when either of us were in the bathroom. - A very creeky mattress which was bordering on uncomfortable and made a lot of noise with the slightest bit of movement. As I've stated, the room was clean and secure and I appreciate this is the priority but I feel it's fair to state the minor issues we had as well. We decided to have tea in the hotel and before I'd even had chance to order our drinks and some food, the owner, who I appreciate may have not anticipated how it may have come across to us having already had a stressful arrival, proceeded to tell me there was a £5 charge for our dog that we'd need to pay. I had no issue with this, I was aware of it as it was stated on booking.

No chair in superior room. Was a bit small compared to what I am used to. Ok for one or 2 nights.

The breakfast was superb and the owners and staff were all extremely friendly and attentive.

There was nothing about the hotel to not like.

staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, food is amazing, location is excellent.
