Desa Eko

We had a quick one night stay here to break up our trip but wish we had booked for more. The view was incredible and noise of nature first thing in the morning was amazing. We had a tent with a private bathroom which was located under the tent (via external stairs) and it was beautiful. Room was clean, private and night time was the perfect temperature. Food and drink were delicious and plenty of gluten free options.

Service was a bit slow (I ended up going up to the counter order more food/drink when needed as no one was checking in to see how our food was or clearing our plates) but very lovely staff and delicious food. Not a problem for us but as others have mentioned there are a lot of stairs, some steep which would have been a problem for those who can't manage them.

First things first: the views are breathtaking, but the location is terrible. We booked the most expensive room (the “studio”) hoping for a bit more comfort after reading comments about the tents being too hot, noisy, and uncomfortable. Big mistake. The studio is located directly beneath the road, which means sleeping is almost impossible unless you enjoy the sound of hundreds of scooters and cars passing by all night. The “room” isn’t even properly enclosed. There are a few walls, then a roof built several meters higher, and that’s it. You can literally see inside the toilet from the road or from the small path behind, which are both at the same height as the roof. As you can imagine, insects, noise, and dust all come in freely. I can handle bugs, but the constant noise made it unbearable. Then comes their “famous” restaurant, The Botanist. Yes, it’s a beautiful space, but the team was unmotivated and inexperienced. Like many other reviews said, they were not friendly, and we didn’t feel welcome. The worst part: the food. On our last night, we ordered just one pizza and one nasi goreng. With only two tables before us (4 and 2 people), it still took 40 minutes to arrive despite having around a dozen people working in the kitchen. When it finally came, the nasi goreng was overcooked and clearly spoiled. I ended up with gastroenteritis, confirmed by a blood test at a clinic the next day. I spent two full days in bed at the next hotel recovering, and between the room, food, and clinic costs, I lost around €750 and four days of my holiday all thanks to this overhyped, poorly run “eco” hotel. To be fair, I have to mention the housekeeping team, who were the most friendly and attentive people we met there genuinely kind and hard-working. Sadly, they were the only human and warm touch in an otherwise disappointing stay, thanks Wahyu. Please, don’t let your holidays be ruined by their good marketing and pretty photos.

De accommodatie is echt fantastisch. De hutjes van alle gemakken voorzien, schoon, ruim, goede wifi. En Desa Eko heeft een goede keuken (wel Westerse prijzen). Ik las wat recensies over dierengeluiden snachts, ik hoorde alleen soms een krekel. Ook de vochtigheid viel erg mee.

Sommige delen van paadjes zijn minder goed verlicht, daarom krijg je een zaklamp, echter is het dan wel van belang toeristen goed uit te leggen dat ze alleen op het pad schijnen en niet op andere tenten, ik werd snachts een paar keer wakker geflitst, heel vervelend. De waterval beklimmen tussen 7-12, daarna stortregent het onafgebroken. Gojek werkt gewoon, ik ben enorm opgelicht door 450.000 te betalen voor een onveilige taxi naar Lovina, geregeld door het hotel, dat was een teleurstelling.

They have a luxury cabin with a bathtub that's great. The tiny kitchen makes great food. The waterfalls are a must.

Le calme et la nature

Dormire in mezzo alla giungla è un'esperienza unica e indescrivibile. L'hotel è molto bello; il nostro studio era grande, pulito e ben fornito. Lo staff gentilissimo, il ristorante dell'hotel buonissimo.
