Residence Inn by Marriott Salt Lake City Downtown

Great hotel, very quiet even though it was full of families.

Visiting the city from out of state and our two stays were great. Both rooms were neat and clean. General hotel was also well kept. For a hotel, breakfast was the best I've seen anywhere on the east coast. Nice variety, well stocked and hot. There was some confusion booking my rooms though a third party website. Patrick w/Marriott was a great help to resolve the issues and very helpful with questions and baggage storage. Thank you, Patrick, and the front desk for the welcoming experience during our stay.

Busy and nice place

Breakfast was so good! Lots of variety, real eggs, oatmeal and waffle bar, fresh fruit and coffee, juice, milk, yogurt, bagels...breakfast was my second favorite part. My first favorite was the balcony off of each room. The king bed was very comfortable and the room was super spacious. Was not happy about paying 10$/day for parking-- there appeared to be plenty of parking so it was confusing why there should be an additional charge on top of the room rate. Overall, great location across from an open park with multiple breweries and restaurants within 0.5 miles. I would mostly likely stay again if I was in the area.

I am a huge Marriott fan, but this Residence Inn does not live up to any Marriott standard. On arrival I had multiple issues with the room we were given: there was a large pile of hair on the floor in the bathroom, there was no toilet paper, the refrigerator had leftover food in it, there were crumbs on the floor under the kitchen cabinet, there was a sheet of ice and water on the top shelf of the fridge, the ice cube maker didn't work, there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, they had taken a king size mattress and put it on top of a queen size platform so we were rolling off the bed all night long, the TV would not connect to the internet, there was a kitchen bag of trash in the hallway by the elevator for almost 48 hours, the safe didn't work, and there was no working pool or hotub (they were completely empty). The staff working the front desk were completely ambivalent to the issues we had and gave us grief about asking for a 1pm check-out so I could take a work call (mind you my Marriott status allows for a 3pm check-out). I'm giving one star for the really nice man that showed up to try and fix our fridge. If you are a Marriott loyalist, do yourself a favor and spend just a few more $ to stay at another location in the downtown area. We stayed here only because we needed the second bedroom for one night. I should have checked out and moved to another hotel, but was too dang busy to deal with it. Lesson learned though; as much as I come to SLC I will NEVER stay here again.
