Zanzibar Coffee House

Everything. Staff were the friendliest, joyous and attentive. Food and drink were great. Rom was wonderful. Location unbelievable. Rooftop view was to die for at breakfast.

Nothing.

Richard and his team were superb. Kind attentive and eager to please. Couldn’t ask for better staff.

Building site next door was very noisy

Wonderful house with old architectural details and interior decoration. The staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Richard set me up with a tour guide who showed me the island/took me around for 3 days. (Zanzibar is the only place in the world I’ve felt it was a good idea to hire a guide as a woman traveling alone. I didn’t feel unsafe really, but the men do stare and many call out.) Got a single room with outside dedicated bathroom. Didn’t bother me, they provided a robe. Great location in Stone Town but ask your driver to walk you to the door. The streets are very tight and confusing! (Getting lost is easy and the driver might need to park near the fish market, many narrow “streets” away.) Breakfast is fantastic. See Forodhani beach at sunset. :-)

Nothing. It’s an adventure. After about 6pm, you knock 3 times loud and a nice man opens the door. Might have to knock a few times.

I had an amazing time at the coffee house! The room was very beautiful and breakfast exceptional but the highlight for me was the staff. They are what made my stay great!

Loved the character and decor of the place. Great coffee as to be expected! Lovely breakfast on the top floor. Good sized bedroom with two single beds. Great location inside the old town. Cars cannot drive nearby but the driver from the airport asked someone to walk us the last 100 metres, so no problem.

Not having an ensuite bathroom. However we had our own beautiful bathroom down the corridor.

The room was beautiful and breakfast was delicious the staff especially Richard was very friendly and helpful
