Burntisland House

Nothing.

I was bitten by a bedbug at 3.30am. It woke me up. It has caused at permanenet raised scar on my arm. I had to throw away clothes and luggage because of bed bug eggs. I asked for a refund or compensation, the 'hotel' (Really it's just a big house), refused to give me one.

Beaucoup de bruit dans le hall. La porte d’entrée de la chambre n’est pas du tout hermétique au bruit. Les plafonds de presque 4 mètres. Aucune décoration. Deux lits en bois qui auraient vraiment besoin d’être révisés: bancals et bruyants à chaque mouvement. Une forte odeur d’humidité (et de cigarette certainement). Pas de possibilité de chauffer la pièce.

Location

Stayed for a few days as a base for walking the Fife Coastal Path. Good value for money. Interesting old house! The furniture is old but everything was very clean. Mattress was new and the bathroom was newly refurbished with a hot, powerful shower. New bedside lighting was nice. Good, strong wifi. Room was serviced daily and staff were helpful. Close to train station and the high street has a good selection of local shops. Would certainly stay again.

I got a very spacious 3 beds in room for just me. I did message a few hours before to say my other guest couldn't make it. It was a quiet room behind a door that was like a foyer just off of the stairs. The windows were also very tall. The shutters were nice. You can close them easily as needed. There is no mini fridge, but there is an electric kettle w tea cups, tea bags, and a couple spoons. The water there is decent and drinkable. The TV had options to login to a streaming network or use other channels. I only used the TV one night to watch a little marathon of the Graham Norton show. Lol. Towels were provided. I also liked that the outlet/ plug switches were already turned on. That's a thing here that I don't see in the States.. wall outlets with built in on-off switches. Spiral staircase is cool. When you get off the train, it's up the stairs and about a 2-minute walk, with stairs before you get to the address. Just note that. Very short walks if you can manage the climb. And the street has plenty of local shops to get food and a park that has a fairground when I saw it late May. There was a Ferris wheel, which caught my attention, even though I was there to visit Edinburgh. The train ride is about 30ish mins from Edinburgh Waverly station, and just check when the last one leaves each night so you can get back to the hotel for cheap.

There's really nothing a person can do about the land . It's very hilly and stairs are scattered about the place. So it's not about the hotel. My disabled cousin was in the plan to go. And I'm so glad she couldn't make it bc she's in a wheelchair, and idk how we would've managed at all.

We liked the very big room we were given and the very good location
