"Photos overestimate the hotel"

4.0

We stayed for 2 nights last year. We booked a twin room but got a double room which wasn't what we were expecting as 2 adult friends. They promised to change the room the following day but didn't. We were allocated the room on the first floor. There was a horrible dirty pair of slippers in the room wardrobe which really didn't set the tone. The bathroom has a sliding plastic concertina type door. Breakfast is on the roof terrace. Great views of the pyramids. The owner will introduce you to tours from people he knows. I personally wouldn't stay again as I think the photos and the reviews on booking dot com seem to over estimate the hotel.

"Great value for money"

8.0

Stayed there on 19 December 2020 for one night. The check-in was easy and the location was good: close to the pyramids and the Great Egyptian Museum, and next to local transportation stations. My room was on the 4th floor and there are elevators. Breakfast was served in room but it was basic. My overall experience about the hotel is good, giving that it is cheap and near the main attraction sites and shopping malls in the area, despite the loud street noise. Pros: - Location near the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. - Close to local transportation stations. - There are elevators. - Spacious room (~50 m2) - Easy check-in. - Breakfast served in room without asking. - Good value for money; giving that it is a 3-star hotel. Cons: - Sound isolation for street noise is very poor. I could clearly hear the noisy streets up till midnight (could have asked for a quiet room but space was more important for me). - No soap. - TV wasn't working (but I wasn't bothered by it). - Only 3 cloth hangers in wardrobe. Could use more. - Didn't try Wi-Fi service.

"Doesn't represnt real Cairo"

2.0

If you are planning to have your meals inside the hotel...Please don't. unless you want adjust the timing between ordering and being served to range between 30 minutes (which acctually once) up to 2 hours during which you will recieve many calls from the hotel staff asking again and again about the the food u order and the number of guests in ur room. the food quality itself is just below avarge and varies according to the mode of the staff and howmuch they like you. House keeping is sporadic, and really feel lucky if u get one. It is really far from downtown. don't give Taxi more than 25 LE from down town. Down town hostels are by far better than this so called 4 stars "hotel"

"Let's you feel the real Cairo"

6.0

For a start, this is not a very high standard hotel, so if you're searching for a spot to spend a week or two, you'd better pass this place. But for a short stay in Cairo it is good - and it's often frequented by tour groups who come here to sleep between a day in the Pyramids and a day on the Nile. Middle East Hotel is located in the centre of nothing - that is, on some street in an average neighborhood. This let's you see how the real city looks like, with its incomplete buildings, people driving like crazy etc - something you won't experience in more pampered resorts. The food is good, the people were nice... and that's it. No frills, but had been in worse places in Egypt before.

"suitable if you are on a tight budget"

6.0

we booked this hotel as part of a holiday package for 9 nites. First night was a nightmare because we couldnt sleep the whole night coz of the noise of the cars honking outside.however the next day they changed our rooms on request without any fuss and from this room we couldnt hear the noise.we booked a triple triple room but be warned you wont get three beds. the room was really big with a lounge two bathrooms with showers and toilets. they have two single beds in the bedroom and expect the third guest to sleep in the lounge sofa bed,im not fussy at all when it comes to beds but seriously these sofa beds are terrible, impossible to sleep on so we just put the single beds together and shared it between three. we asked the hotel to give us a third bed but they refused.another great thing is all the rooms have a mini kitchen with cookers and fridge too incase you want to heat up ur food or sumthing. Also the rooms are cleans(corridors are very dirty) and NO COCKROACHES .the location is good because its on king faisal street so literally 10 minute drive from the pyramids about 25mins drive from cairo city center 40 mins drive to khan el khalili and theres two exchanges nextdoor with really good exchange rates.theres a lot of restraunts and cafes near the hotel too and u can get white cabs right outside the hotel.theres free interent access in the upstairs roof restraunt , and this restraunt is very pleasant serving nice food.breakfast is ok u get a variety of things like eggs, egyptian fool beans, cheese, rollls e.t.c but its the same everyday and if u are not up early u miss it.the management were nice and friendly but dont book any trips or cabs with them because its a rip off.if you are on a tight budget then this hotel serves the purpose

"A nightmare"

2.0

This hotel should not be offered to any European traveller. What you see in the website or a told is not what you get. It may be cheap or economical as pointed out. The place is dirty. Food scapes and plates left scattered throughout the corridors and stairwells. People sleeping in corridors and stairwells. It deserves no rating for it should not be used for mainstream travel companies. It just puts a bad taste and experience in the mouths of travelers wanting to see ancient Egypt. I hope I get over this and hi back someday to see what I wanted to see. Could not even look at the food to taste it. It just was all wrong. Beware what pictures you see may look good but it is not necessarily what you get.

"Rather pleasant surprise. Good for one- or two-nights stay."

6.0

Having visited various Egyptian hotels before, we were wondering what will befall us on our two-day trip to Cairo. Middle East Hotel turned up to be a pleasant surprise. We got a spacious room with a huge bed and a big bathroom which was suprisingly clean (as for local standards) and only had a few patches of mould. There was a small window to the back courtyard and, of course, the sound of car horns was present all the time, though somehow dampened so there was no problem with sleeping. The room was absolutely clean and had a TV set with a variety of channels in many languages. The hotel has an interesting dining room in which Muslim weddings are held, and food was of proper quality. There is a couple of shops in the area - you need just to cross the street (which can be a challenge - just don't show your fear and do what locals do) and go along to the right for about 100-300m. Back in Jun 2009 they were constructing some sort of freeway overhead in the area you had to cross, but I have no idea as of how fast would they finish it. Definitely, you can get a feel of the "real Cairo" here if you go even for a short walk. To sum it up - a pleasant surprise because of previous unpleasant ones, good for a day or two, but I wouldn't go here for a longer stay as it's rather far from everywhere.

"Terrible Breakfast"

4.0

I stayed in this hotel for only 2 nights in our 8days egyptian tour. I dont agree that the hotel is a 4 star hotel as stated. The rooms are spacious because of the two bathrooms, kitchen/ sitting room inclusive. The hotel buffet breakfast was horrible, my kids could not eat anything and the food was very cold. Dinner table was dirty and environment really untidy. Hotel is just okay if you would not have their breakfast.
