Norton House Hotel & Spa

The original building and grounds are lovely. The "newer" hotel wing where I stayed on the ground level did not have much natural light and felt removed from the charm of the historic hotel. The bathroom had a noticeable unpleasant sewer smell. If booking this hotel, I suggest inquiring as to the location of your room. I was disappointed for the amount of money the hotel charges

It's hard to believe this property is less than three miles from the airport, with it's green lawns and small wooded area onsite. It was quite the counterpoint to hear the planes taking off one minute, then the sheep in the nearby field the next. Our room was a bit hot (mid-May), but the hotel did provide a fan which cooled things down. The towel warmer in the bathroom could not be turned off, and was very hot, which made us nervous, but we just made sure to stay well away from it whenever we were in there. Nice breakfast buffet, plenty of choices; dinner was a bit expensive, but delicious as well. One of our favorite places to stay when in Edinburgh. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

Really nice place to stay, but getting into Edinburgh requires a bit of planning. We used a combination of Uber and the Tram from Edinburgh Gateway Station.
