"A beautiful hotel undermined by consistently poor service from one employee, resulting in a disappointing and stressful"

5.0

I am truly shocked by this experience, and I say that as someone who travels constantly and very rarely writes reviews. This one is long, but it is worth reading. While the hotel itself is absolutely lovely, clean, and well located, the behavior of one employee completely conditioned our stay and ensured that we will never return. To begin with the positives: the hotel is adorable and very clean. The location, right in the center of such a charming town, is perfect. The small bar in the entryway is a very nice plus. When we checked in around 9:00 p.m. on January 1, the young woman who greeted us was exceptional. She was friendly, welcoming, and clearly explained the facilities, parking, and entry and exit points. When we complimented her in the lobby, she smiled and seemed genuinely proud of her work and appreciative of the feedback. Unfortunately, everything that followed the next morning, January 2, was shaped by the conduct of another employee. That morning, a young woman with long brown hair pulled back into a low ponytail, with a clip, was working at the front desk. Her attitude and demeanor were consistently rude and dismissive. At 9:45 a.m., when we entered the breakfast area, I asked her for pool towels, as none were located outside. She began to say, “We don’t…” and then stopped herself, saying she would “see if there were any.” There was no signage indicating that guests should bring towels from their rooms, and we are not in the habit of doing so. When she returned with large white room towels, she handed them to us without a smile or any courtesy, as if the request itself was an inconvenience. At that same time—9:45 a.m., with breakfast advertised until 10:00 a.m.—the breakfast offerings were nearly finished and in poor condition. The eggs were gone, only two cold sausages remained, the potatoes were cold, and I had to scrape oatmeal from the pot to get a small bowl. One door to the breakfast room was closed before 10:00 a.m.

"A nice place to stay, what stood out was the front desk staff were very helpful and assisted when I lost my handicapped"

We love the larger room with the extra space. Even tho we don’t have kids it helps just not get on each others nerves!

That there isn’t a microwave in the room.

"Good clean rooms in a great location to walk along the small Arroyo Grande downtown."

9.0

The room was spacious and clean! We liked the added shelf in living space for all our personal stuff. The front lobby was cute and pleasantly decorated.

The double bed was a bit cozy for my husband and me. Not much variety in warm breakfast options but decent.
