Torfhús Retreat

location comfort and Elegance but above all a very cool hot pool with warm springs

We have stayed in this wonderful retreat for 4 nights, everything was perfect, the service, the food, the turf house, the hot pool, and it’s really excellent location for observing the Northern Lights which we have seen in all the 4 nights we have stayed in.

The service was amazing, rooms / cottages were very private, hot tub was great. The dinner was absolutely fantastic- some of the best meals we’ve ever had. we ended up eating there all 4 nights in a row. Very minimal light pollution that allowed us to see the northern lights 2 nights in a row 1 the courtesy phone calls from the staff advising us the light activity was well appreciated. will definitely be back her again and highly recommend it to all!

great location and so pretty, excellent staff and food

very expensive. rooms are great but small and have no wardrobe or anywhere to put your clothes. hot tubs are great, they should provide a robe though.

There is nothing we didn't love about this resort, from check-in to check-out everything was fabulous. The friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food, the amazing location, the hot pot next to the hut. We loved every minute spent here. A big shout out to the maitre d'h who pulled us away from the dining table to take us outside where the northern lights were dancing, absolutely amazing!

The location was great for visiting the golden circle. The food was amazing, the best we had in Iceland.

For something that says is luxury, would have been good to have extra touches such as slippers to get to the hot tub. Also, to have a basic menu if you don’t want the 3 courses. You’re not really near any restaurants or supermarkets so have to make a big effort on f you don’t want a €400 meal every night. The road to get to the site is in development (Nov 2022) so is a bit treacherous.

Wonderfully characterful in a beautiful location. Warm and inviting.
