Auberge du Bois Prin

While a lovely lodge with an excellent chef, we found its location to be less than ideal considering they offer no transportation, particularly to and from the bus/train station. The walk is uphill the whole way - with luggage it can become problematic! If they would only offer a pickup and drop off upon arrival and departure, that would be great!

The staff were very friendly and informative. They spoke perfect english and gave us many suggestions. They did try their best to make things right when we arrived. The views from the room were outstanding.

We arrived late in the afternoon and the room smelled like an open septic tank. Evidently they had just "cleaned the pipes", which is another way to say that the kitchen had clogged the drains and they needed to use the septic clean out to unplug it. They knew of this issue but neglected to air out our room before arrival. The first night was awful as it stunk badly. We were also directly below the kitchen in the restaurant which was busy until midnight. Every footstep and dropped fork can be heard very clearly. Then it started up again at 6 AM. Needless to say, we did not sleep for two days. The coffee machine was very finicky and we needed someone to show us how to unclog it. They did give us two mealy apples as a way of saying sorry for the problems. In retrospect we realized that this hotel is really a restaurant with some rooms above and below. The restaurant is their focus first and foremost.

The place is a pure bliss among hotels. The hotel is slightly upper than other accommodation, about 700m from city center.

Sometimes the hotel can get noisy due to other guests or people coming to dine at the restaurant. But the room is very comfortable and you can have the best sleep.

Really lovely hotel, with really friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful location, and we liked that it was a 10-15 walk into town. It's a steep walk, but easy in regular footwear. Really well appointed room - obviously in chalet style, and had everything that was needed. The restaurant was excellent - though I'm not a massive fan of tasting menu's - which was the only option. Everything served up was excellent though, and the service was very good. Recommended.
