HI New Orleans Hostel

I love the location everything is close by including public transportation. The Co workers was very nice too me. Was a great atmosphere. Definitely gonna book there again in the future.😄

I visited New Orleans during the French Quarter Fest and the best part of this hostel is the location since it was central and only a 10-15 min walk from the French Quarter. The building is also very secure as you need your room key to enter the main entrance. This was helpful as non-guests routinely were sitting on the stoop of the building. I was pleasantly surprised that all of the restrooms (and there were TONS of them) were private and included individual showers as well. I didn't need to cook during my stay, but the kitchen was huge and provided ample space and clean appliances to use as needed. I was expecting much more rowdy experience with the guests, but everyone stay to themselves and were quiet when walking through the hallways.

Because the location was so close to French Quarter, Canal Street which is right outside was unbelievably noisy every night. People street racing during the wee hours of the morning and groups talking loudly at they walk by. The building itself is historic although it's been renovated, but they skipped the windows. The original single pane windows remain and provide no soundproofing at all. The hostel provides earplugs for guests, but you can still hear the street pretty clearly. My roommate said she slept in her earbuds with white noise as a solution. As I was coming back to my room one night, there were several large roaches crawling on the hallways. I never saw any in my room or in the bathrooms, but it was unnerving that even the dead ones were missed by the cleaning staff. Lastly, the room temperature was not able to be controlled by the guest. Although the temperature was good for daytime, it got really warm at night.

Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location on Canal Street, French Quarter where it all happens in New Orleans. Easy to get to by bus from the airport. Clean and tidy hostel throughout. Nice dorms giving privacy with curtains around each bed giving you privacy. Good Showers. I would recommend this hostel to all for their stay in New Orleans.
