Jin Lon Hotel

I had a good stay, but I think I was lucky with the room I got since I didn't have any neighbours during my stay. The room is fine. Everything is basic: the bed is the most simple possible, but okay; the fridge and AC are quite good. The bathroom is okay. One very nice thing: I could borrow a bike, which made the stay really good.

Bad sound isolation. The problem is that the walls are not sound isolated, so you hear everything others do. If I had had loud neighbours, the stay would have been terrible.

For the price paid, which was quite reasonable considering it was during a major holiday, I couldn't be happier with the hotel. The concierge who greeted me spoke excellent English and had plenty of recommendations. I was thrilled to see that the room had a bathtub and the hot water (which a sign said was available only between 5pm and 8am) was available every time I tried it after a short wait. There was a good amount of closet space and drawers to unpack and relax fully in the room which was appreciated. Free from insects like bed bugs or roaches, but of course the occasional mosquito did get in the room.

As is the rule in Taiwan, the beds were hard. Public areas were a bit untidy. There is really no English signage to help you find the hotel and it doesn't really look like a hotel from the exterior. Bicycles are provided for guests, but one morning I was told that there were no bicycles left that I could borrow. The bicycles are rideable but seem like other than tire inflation haven't seen any grease or maintenance of any kind for years. The entire hotel seems like it could do with a bit of TLC actually. Some things in my room were broken when I arrived such as a window and the door didn't quite match the frame.

A good example of an old style hotel that is well kept. The room has everything one needs - a good bed, a little desk, a window, and a spacious bathroom. Drinking water dispenser in the corridor.
