Let me begin, The huts were poorly built with insulation and damp issues, the toilet was leaking too. The air conditioning had to be kept on at all times which is not at all sustainable. There was a nail head poking out from the floor where a tile was replaced which scratched my foot and put holes in my sock. The beds in the living room had no privacy, and the ‘kitchenette’ was just a microwave with no cutlery or bowls in sight. Ironically we got dish soap without a single dish to wash- or a towel to dry them with. Adding to this, the secluded location and lack of kitchen facilities meant we had to sometimes eat at the restaurant, with the unbelievably overpriced meal plan (for reference you could eat for under ¥1000 in miyakojima- this meal was ¥7,500). The staff were mostly friendly save for one man who came knocking on our door insisting I hadn’t paid for the room and asking for payment when it had been settled online weeks ago. The private beach was full of rubbish, which may have been washed up but is not worth a trip regardless. It’s rocky and rough and through a pathway of banana trees, full of bugs and crabs with spiders dangling over your head. Overall, I’m disappointed considering the price. It has a good rating but honestly I’m not sure how, 90% of the staff were lovely and helpful and if it weren’t for them this review wouldn’t give much other merit. I found it especially disappointing upon arrival when I found that we’ve paid hundreds of thousands of yen only to be told we must pay extra for lounge chairs to sit on the roof they advertised! This place was not worth the cost, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s never a nice feeling arriving somewhere and wishing you could cancel.

Rooms were fine and clean. Aircon was good.

Property was not well kept and looks unfinished. Trek thru the banana plants was littered with trash and difficult to walk through to the beach. Gives the hotel a poor impression.

Super stay at RuGu lodge, we loved the atmosphere of staying so close to the beach, and our lodge was spacious and really fine decorated. The staff is suuuuper friendly, and the BBQ at night really romantic, where you can also have chat with international guest.

At the end we find a little to secluded, you need a car for everything, because it stay really far from the city and from any other beach. The near by beach are really small and when wind comes from north you have no clear water. It's a place for the quietness but if you like to explore the island and go restaurant maybe better a place near the center.

All in all too pricey for the quality 1. Quite a mess around the area, a lot of construction garbage, hencethe whole glamping context is faded 2. No one in the hotel is paying any attention to the crazy amount of bugs and lizards within the room 3. No room cleaning 4. Breakfast really basic 5. Dinner is better but for additional payment which doesn’t equal quality
