The futon mattresses could have been thicker and more comfortable but Definitely OK for the money

Izumi-Sano was close to the airport and it worked for being a place we could reach before the trains stopped after a very late flight. It was cleaned every day and I liked our room and the fact we had a heater/air conditioner. I also liked that we could check in on a tablet when we arrived without disturbing any staff late at night.

Unfortunately, the staircase is very narrow and it's difficult to get large and heavy suitcases up it. Also, because the property is primarily hardwood, it is very noisy when guests move up and down the stairs and in their rooms. It's easy to hear other guests in their rooms as well. The mattresses on the floor were also very thin, so it was uncomfortable on my back. I think thicker futons would be a great addition to the rooms. It was also a 15-minute walk to the guesthouse from the station, and a lot of the street was cobblestone, which isn't great if you have rolling luggage as it will make a lot of noise if you are arriving late. You may want to consider this if you are coming in late.

It was really clean and the staff gave really easy to understand instructions on how to Check-In. The room was very spacious and clean. It was a shame that we only stayed for a night, but there was a really big kitchen and dining space in the common area.

Because of how Japanese houses are built, the stairs were abit narrow for larger luggage to be brought upstairs, so we had to leave our luggage at the common area downstairs. But chain locks were provided to secure your luggage onto the rail on the wall near the entrance.

It was close to the station and self check in was smooth. The host answers questions fast. Very clean and spacious room. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. Good value for money
