The Beverly Hills Hotel

Service is 5-Star, But…other than a standard pool…. don’t expect much. No decent lobby, no amazing views, no amazing gardens (despite remote rooms). The refurbished hotel is immaculately clean. There are much better options such as Four Seasons in Agoura for spa and pool or Waldorf Astoria for location and views. The worst was on arrival I was dropping off a friend and was told I had only five minutes to return to my car or I would be charged $28 for parking. We rushed to check-in the front desk was unapologetic stating parking was ran by an independent company. So the check in was rushed and so unpleasant I DONT RECOMMEND the hotel as it was a one star welcome and a deflection or passing of the buck of a clear problem where a bad taste of arrival stuck in my mind until I returned later. As it was Sunday, the greedy independent parking company could have stated I could park on the street for free and no time limited, but that really wasn’t the issues, it was the five minute drop off limit…. As someone who has stayed at hundreds of hotels, this gave me a one star experience and as you can see…. A long narrative.

The hotel gave us an upgrade and lots of other goodies. The staff was excellent; very attentive, friendly and competent. The food in the restaurants was very good, as was the service and ambiance. No complaints. Great hotel, but the really spectacular part of the hotel is the beautifully tended gardens.

the private grounds truly felt serene,clean, quiet & private. Check in, Concierge, Pool Staff, waiters,waitresses, bartenders....outstanding

we had two nights at this famous hotel and really enjoyed our stay. we are belmond ancmd fairmont members and felt this hotel was up with the well known hotels. the polo lounge was excellent and vladimir really made us feel welcome at the bar. dinner was excellent as well, even after being told not to photograph friends with a fashion designer, we totally understood and apologized, though i was not in it 🙂...another shout out is to the woman from canada that checked us in and showed us to our superb room...i'm sorry i can't remember her name

We are a family of 4 presently staying at the hotel, having been here 4 nights already. We just extended our trip several days because our stay has been extraordinary. I have been frequenting this hotel since 1992 when I first came with my Dad for a short winter trip from Boston as a teenager. About 15 years ago, l camped here for a month while my LA house was under construction; and when I lived in LA for 20 years, I would stay here about one night every month to work undisturbed in this calming garden of pink and green. In fact, I wrote (and then sold to a major studio) my first screenplay while sitting by their legendary pool, fueled by their lattes, the music and the energy. Now, I return with a family and totally different needs. What a relief to see that an institution like this continues to retain its charm. We stay at the absolute best hotels all over the world. So many similarly historical hotels globally have lost that magical feeling you get when you sleep among all the ghosts. I appreciate that this hotel has not sanitized itself and still has a sense of humor and some old-school-class and spirit. The staff is remarkable. Everyone remembers my name and as a 47 year old mother, it is nice to be remembered. I understand this is their shtick but I love it. And you don't get such personalized attention many other places especially at hotels this large. The food has been perfect and the drinks some of the best I've ever had. The service in the restaurants and the kind and bright personalities of the cleaning crew, the bell people, room service and so forth have made it all even more special. It They have not put a foot wrong. Even my laundry was done extra-thoughtfully. Their tolerance and patience with my kids and all the kids here has been wonderful. It feels in the most comforting way like I have come home. I have missed Los Angeles and I am grateful to see some of it hasn't changed. I literally grew up going to this hotel for random reasons. I have always eaten at the Polo Lounge and just enjoyed the higher end experience. I always dressed up to the max because there was always a dress code that appeared to be enforces... sort of. I went the evening of Christmas Dec 25 2024 and something has changed with the hotel. I am in town and decided to visit the hotel for drinks and maybe a dessert... not to dine at Polo Lounge but the Lounge bar. I go to the front desk and was told that it is sold full. Ok.. that is great as I can see that. It was full with people wearing sweat pants, jeans, torn t-shirts. I was in full suit to the max. In this family of hotel in London (where I have been) the standards of the hotel were kept.. but not Beverly Hills. Literally only very few old couples matched the rules and about 90% were straight out of the local mall. Why do I care? because I have had friends rejected in the past when they were dressed better than what I saw. I read the prior review who also had their friend rejected for wearing jeans. Tonight people wore sweats, t-shirts. This is not the 5-star experience.. on Xmas day evening. I roamed the hotel to kill time in hopes of waiting it out for an open seat and stumble upon their other bar. Cool I sit down and hope to drink Service was very spotty and focused on a group of folks who blatantly violated a dress code and were loudly talking about how they cheated on their taxes this year... an odd thing to brag about so loudly. I got one drink and a coffee and waited to pay.. and waited.. and waited to be acknowledged. Nothing. No "how is the drink", "can I get you something else".. not even a "Merry Christmas" ..on Xmas day!! Nothing. I had to get up to find anyone who would take my payment. Beverly Hills Hotel is within a family chain of extremely high-end hotels. I have been in many in other countries and even their sister locally. They are all amazing, world-class and masterful with service and quality. Beverly Hills hotel has fallen and is not a 5-star hotel. Charging $1000 plus a night does not make you a 5-star hotel. Go to the Ritz London and no children are allowed to run around wildly, you are greeted by ALL staff, you are never forgotten at any chance and the strict dress code guarantees a prime experience. I really do wish this hotel will return to that same status.

Dear Beverly Hills Hotel I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding several incidents during my current stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel from December 10th to December 27th. I chose your esteemed establishment with high expectations, given its reputation for impeccable service, but unfortunately, my experience has fallen short of those standards. To begin, on [date], an unfortunate incident occurred where my room caught fire. Thankfully, no one was harmed, but the situation caused significant inconvenience. All my clothing was exposed to heavy smoke, requiring immediate washing, and I had to be relocated to another room. While I appreciate the swift relocation, the stress and disruption, especially during my recovery from surgery two days ago, were overwhelming. The second, and perhaps more distressing incident, took place on December 21st. I invited a dear friend, whom I hadn’t seen in nearly 10 years, to have dinner at the hotel. My friend traveled over two hours to meet me, making special arrangements despite her responsibilities as a mother to three autistic children. Upon arrival, we were rudely informed that her attire—a leather jacket, black jeans with subtle stripes, and boots—did not meet the hotel’s dress code. While I understand the importance of maintaining standards, the approach taken was neither considerate nor accommodating. To make matters worse, hotel staff insisted she wear pants they provided, which caused us both embarrassment. I was left with no choice but to take my guest back to my room for dinner, disrupting what should have been a joyful reunion. What troubles me most is that I have dined and lunched at this hotel daily during my stay, observing an array of fashion choices by other patrons. This inconsistency in enforcing dress codes, paired with the lack of sensitivity, was deeply disappointing. My friend and I managed to salvage the evening because of our strong bond, but the memory of this experience is now tainted. I urge you to address this issue seriously. Policies are important, but they must be enforced with grace and flexibility, especially in a world that increasingly values inclusion and respect over outdated notions of formality. I hope the Beverly Hills Hotel can reflect on how such situations might be handled more thoughtfully in the future. As I still have a few days left in my stay, I trust that no further incidents will occur. I would appreciate a response to this letter and some assurance that my concerns are being taken seriously. Hadn't stayed since Covid and to be honest I had forgotten how great it was ! Great vibes, great service, great fresh rooms with huge bed. If i had to find a negative for a "balanced" review it is that they pump the air con sooo aggressively in the evenings when it is cold outside anyway that is really unpleasant. Make sure you take a coat and jumper and things will be fine. Luckily i don't wear short skirts! :)

We continue to be pleasantly surprised with each encounter at this lovely hotel. The food is impecable and the staff is over the top incredible. You can honestly sense that they love what they do. You can feel the passion when they dote on you. I would highly recommend eating all of your meals on the property when you stay there. I have traveled all over the world, and this is top notch!
