"Good value for money"

Chain Hotels meet a great challenge because once "the tone is set", all the other hotels in the chain must respond positively and carry the consequences (good or bad) for the chain. MERCURE hotels are normally good value for money, but I find that sometime the restaurant of the hotel is not really up to the (expected or pretended) standard. MERCURE de ALBI, FRANCE is a very nice exception both for the jotel.and its restaurant. The location is awsome and you can reach the centre of town in 5-8 minutes walking. There is a nice parking. The rooms are comfortable. The bathrooms are perhaps a little small, but "do the job" The reception is very friendly. The restaurant warrants a detour, especially seated on the terrace. The meals can be considered gastronomic. A real effort is made by the cook to present a "down to earth" meal that attracts the eye and the mouth. The use of fresh vegetables,roasted patatoes with the "confit canard and foie gras" made this plate a great pleasure. Prices are within acceptable bouderies, but I noticed that overall in the Western world, 20% has been added over the last 5 years everywhere. The quantity and quality has not kept pace. But this restaurant and hotel is a fine exception that at least make an effort to help "price/quality" drive the idea of "price/pleasure in the good ditection. Overall staff very pztifnt and dedicated
