Architecture was beautiful

Waaay too noisy

Downtown DC historic hotel in a good location across from the Convention Center, reasonably priced BUT many troubling issues. First, beware they are running a racket with early check-in requests. If you want to request to check in early, they try to charge you half of the price for a night's stay. We had called earlier in the day to request and were told about this. We were only arriving 2 hours early. When asked to speak to a manager, I was told if they had a room, she would accommodate us. Upon arrival, I was told they had a room available, but there would be the charge of 1/2 of an extra night. When I asked them to check the record per my earlier discussion, the manager arrived and she quickly told the receptionist that there weren't any rooms available (which was false). Then she changed her story and showed us two rooms. Very rude manager who changed her story from what she advised just hours earlier. Also, we requested a quite room and got one overlooking a back courtyard overlooking another building's windows - so very limited privacy or light. Unfortunately, there was a chiller on the ground floor that came on and off all day and night, so this was far from quiet. Also our AC came on and off and it was quite loud and blew directly on us. Rooms are very small similar to what you see in Europe. Really bad internet. The door didn't fit well, so the hallway light shown through. Interesting - I read other reviews about the size of the toilet. I was amazed. I have never seen toilets this low. They are NOT the standard height nor chair height - but rather much, much lower. It reminded me of toilets in a kindergarten classroom. No vanity mirror or mini refrigerator. Others commented on rats but we saw none. We will definitely never stay there again!!

Cozy, historic, beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. Staff are friendly. This is a small hotel for those who appreciate older architecture and history.

O quarto onde fiquei dava para rua de trás o que fez com que o barulho de máquinas do edifício vizinho incomodasse um pouco, mas nada que não tivesse aguentado.
