Shelaine Inn

Despite the reviews, this was the only hotel available. We were driving out of Florida, escaping Hurricane Irma. We arrived at 2:00 am, fearing we would not have our room. But someone was there to great us. The room was fine, better than sleeping in the car. I've been in better and worse. It was clean except for the toilet. There's a pool but we were on the road early. The Huddle House across the street was excellent for breakfast.

This is a very small place just off the interstate and the only place for miles around so we were very happy we found it and even happier the janitor had a room and was kind enough to check us in late. However, there was a group of crystal-meth users making a hell of a racket just a few door away. Not a pretty sight - not a pleasant evening/night - but the hotel was good enough for the money. The worrying thing is: the janitor informed me that this group and others are there a lot because it was cheap and they slept in the room with 5 or 6 people at a time. Drive on if you can ... this isn't where you want to spend the night with your kids.

This motel has been recently remodeled after it was sold to a new owner. It's now the Sutherland Inn. The room that I got was great (spent 2 nights). Very clean room. All of the rooms are non-smoking. Pretty modern furniture. Comfortable bed.Quiet. Large flat-screen television. Strong wi-fi signal. No breakfast but there is a Huddle House restaurant across the highway.. Wished that there would have been a guest laundry. Several of the rooms on the first floor are set up for people with mobility issues.

Will never stay here again...comode in room had issues, over-flowed, tried to stop water could not, called front desk explained what was going on...lady asked if i had a plunger, then she waited for 7-8 min. before coming to room, by this time water was soaking into carpet. To make a long story short, they cut the water off, would not fix problem, would not give me another room unless I paid for another. So I stayed in room with no bathroom facilities, no towels to take a shower, wet carpet and water in bathroom floor. Next morning they presented me with credit card reciept for and addition $100.00 for damages. I did not cause this problem, I am not paying for something I did not do, and if they would have come to room and fixed problem their would not have been anything for them to have called damages. I will never ever stay at this motel again. I called the local sheriff's dept. and had them come out and make a report of this...The officer was just as stunned as I was as the way the management was treating me.

The attendant at the reception desk cancelled my reservation because I got there late. There were no guests/cars whatsoever in the hotel . VERY DIRTY AND SCARY. He cancelled so I won't get the cheaper online rate and he can charge me a higher rate. He was so rude and unpleasant. The room was so unkept and have a dew smell. Upon check out, I realized that he had charged my credit card more than the agreed rate. He was feisty and aggressive for a hotel attendant. When I complained, he pretty much told me to deal with it and then expose his pistol gun. That was scary to my kids and wife. Someone needs to check this guy before he does something real bad. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO MY WORST ENEMY. THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN.

When we arrived we were told that we couldnt have a receipt. He said "we dont do that". What type of establishment says that. Only to find out he charged us extra upon leaving. He was rude at first and to me the hotel is rundown. Our toilet broke the first nite. It was close to where we were going so that is why we choose this.hotel. For the price we paid i guess we cant complain, but i would have paid triple for a cleaner place and better service. when we called to dispute the extra charges he said again, "we dont do that". I would never return there. A bit of advice to the owner please learn so me customer service. Not all of your guest are cheap quickies, that stay for a couple of hours.

The room was so dusty and had a bad smell....it just wasnt clean went back and ask for money back they didn't want to give back....said will give clean sheets and those sheets were brown but i couldn't stay they gave money. Back

i have stayed at several hotel on i-16 this is perfect one for price and service best place i ever stayed good clean room ,micro fridge ,huddle house and truckstop across the hotel,manager and staff was very frendly i hed a good time.

I'm not sure why this place has gotten a couple of bad reviews. We paid 50.00 including taxes and everything; the room was clean and had a TV, microwave, wifi, and lots of floor space. I think it even had a fridge. We got to Savannah every year, and this will definitely be our stop-over place from now on.

Made reservations and when I arrived the attendant advised the price was higher than my confirmation. He finally agreed to lower price, because it was on my blackberry, but the next morning at check out the bill was for the higher price. I argued with him and he said they did not even have a rate that I told him, even though he agreed to it the previous night and it was on my confirmation email. It was only a $6 difference, but this person belongs in jail. Room was also very nasty. I would drive 300 miles extra not to stay at this hotel!!!
