"I do NOT Reccomend This Hotel"

I would not recommend staying at The Serenity Inn in Sweetwater, Tennessee. I booked our stay through Booking.com and specifically paid extra for a room advertised with a mountain view. Unfortunately, the room we received did not match the listing. Instead of a mountain view, our window overlooked a McDonald’s and a rundown trailer park. Upon entering the room, we immediately noticed that it was not very clean and had a strong unpleasant odor. In an attempt to make the room more comfortable, we sprayed some deodorizer, opened the door briefly, and turned on the air conditioner to help reduce the humidity and smell. While we were sitting in the room discussing dinner plans, the hotel manager entered our room without permission and demanded that we turn off the air conditioner because the door was open. He then told us that if we were unhappy, we could stay elsewhere and he would refund our money. When we agreed to leave, the manager changed his position and stated that he could not issue a refund directly and that it would have to be handled through Booking.com. After contacting Booking.com, we found another hotel and filed a complaint. Booking.com informed us that they would need to speak with the property regarding a refund for the two nights we had paid for but would not be using. About an hour later, the manager called me and said he would “do me a favor” by refunding only one night’s stay. I explained that this was not what had been discussed and that I expected a refund for both unused nights. He then abruptly hung up on me. To make matters worse, two days later I discovered an additional charge from the hotel itself, separate from the Booking.com reservation. I found this extremely concerning and unacceptable. Thankfully, we were able to find accommodations at the Holiday Inn on short notice, and their staff was professional, accommodating, and welcoming.
