Garni Hotel Schmaus

The room was very clean and comfortable and suited my purposes for the night and the person I spoke to when trying to check in gave me a good restaurant recommendation. The location of the hotel is great, didnt have breakfast but looked OK.

I was surprised that a) the hotel was not staffed at all. The door to the hotel was locked when I arrived, however, there was a note on the door in German with a phone number to call. Upon calling the number someone gave me the code to a lock-box adjacent to the door where there was a key for me to get into the hotel/room. The only person I encoutred at the hotel was at check out. b) it was not clear from the website that this is more of an Airbnb type situation than a proper hotel. e.g. - not restaurant, no bar, no check-in staff.

No air conditioner

We loved the location on the main square close to all the ice cream parlours, cafes, restaurants & shops. It was nice to have secure off road parking for my motorcycle (even given a covered garage). Our room was very spacious & also had a terrace. Breakfast was a generous buffet, the breadbuns were particularly delicious. Lots of fresh fruit on offer, bananas, plums, kiwi & apples. Staff were pleasant & helpful.
