Sierra Trails Inn

Geweldige gastvrouw die je bij aankomst meeneemt langs alle faciliteiten en je adviezen geeft voor je verblijf in de Yosemite regio. Meerdere opties voor ontbijt; to go, vroege luxe continental en een uitslaap-ontbijt met warme onderdelen. Dat niet alleen. Ze voorziet haar gasten van extra's als water, ijswater, snacks en zelfs regenponcho's om mee te nemen op de avonturen in Yosemite en omgeving. Comfortabel bed en een ontspannen omgeving. Ik raad Sierra Trails Inn absoluut aan en ik zou hier zo een volgende nog een keer boeken.

Un peu loin du parc

Hosts were friendly and generous with their time. Jane spent a while explaining the options for a great hike as well as the benefits for going really early. She made up a breakfast bag which I could take with me which was helpful. They also provided some recommendations for local restaurants which proved excellent.

A little tricky to find the first time

The breakfast to go was a life saver - we were out by 5.30am every day to get a full day of hiking in and didn’t return til about 8pm each night. Jane’s breakfast left in the fridge for us meant we could head straight to the park and didn’t have to make something ourselves while exhausted the night before! The property was also clean and comfortable, and Jane gave us some great tips for Yosemite upon arrival and even provided us with ponchos for the waterfall hikes!

Nothing at all, it was great.

24/7 access to tea, coffee and water, microwave and fridge were a huge plus! Not only was she super fast in responding to our messages online, upon arrival, Jane gave us possibly the clearest rundown of the park we could ask for, which prepared us even better than all those weeks of online research. She also prepared to-go bags for our early trips out to the park (5:30am), and made us a delicious hot frittatta on our last day. The house is in-between the East and South entrance gates, which makes it a great starting point to visit both areas. We also saw plenty of wildlife around the house including grey squirrels, hummingbirds, Deer and all sorts of birds! It's also close to both Mariposa and Oakhurst, both towns we were able to visit in the evenings for groceries and dinner after Yosemite. We truly enjoyed our stay here and appreciate all the help from Jane & Richard before & during our trip!

Despite between an in-between point, it's a 1.5h drive to the trailhead of Mist Trail, and although technically it's 45min to the South gate, it is a total of 1.5h drive to Glacier point itself. Yosemite is huge and perhaps it's not so easy to find middle ground other than staying in the park itself (where you would still have to choose a side to be closer to anyway). Being a room in a house, at night we could hear quite a bit of noise from tv or perhaps other guests, and people walking around. I had trouble sleeping on the 2nd night due to the sounds.

Lovely host, excellent breakfast, good location not too far from the national park, quirky decor with lots of character, comfy bed, very quite location.
