Friendly and welcoming owner.

Tired decoration. Needs painting. Dirty grout in shower. Door to room was rattling on hinges. Curtains unlined - not private as room situated directly on the road.

Staff were fabulous and friendly made us most welcome

Nice room, clean and well equipped. The shower was large with plenty of hot water.

When i booked via booking.com it said breakfast was available at the property. I also checked online and although it said the restaurant was closed on mondays this wasnt a problem. However on arrival i found that they didnt open on Monday or Tuesday, not even the bar. The food menue for breakfast indicated that we should complete and hand it in at the bar. To whom, when if the main building wasnt open.? There was no property information explaining what to do or suggesting places to eat etc. although there was a tourist guide to the area. Despitebeing in a small village the road was very busy and noisy from early in the morning. Nowhere else in the village to eat and the bridge to the nearest town Kirkcubright was closed so our options were a very long round trip back to Kircubright via country lanes or (our choice) a short drive to the closed bridge and a walk into town to a takeaway.

On this occasion, the bar nor restaurant were open and I had no transport and wasn’t advised that there was no food available. I couldn’t get anything to eat and had also not had lunch. Luckily there was a chap doing some painting at the back of the hotel and he found me a pot noodle and some extra biscuits so whilst not healthy eating, kept me going. I couldn’t have breakfast either as I needed to leave before breakfast was available ( which it was as a lady knocked on my door to find out if I wanted any as I hadn’t left my breakfast order in! All I needed was a message to tell me that there wasn’t going to be any food and I could have planned to have something

small village location,, quiet room, very friendly and the food was superb.

Exceptional breakfast in lovely dining room. Very friendly staff.

A very nice little hotel with tidy clean room with lots of little touches such as coffees, teas biscuits etc. Excellent evening meal at reasonable cost. Good breakfast with good choice. Friendly service and nice decor in dining room. Good location just off the A75 road.

Wish the pub was open sometime other than just Friday Sat and Sunday.

Situated in a quiet little village and an ideal stop over when touring. Currently operating on a self check in basis and the bar is only open at weekends. Room was clean and comfortable.
